Changes in severity of problem gambling and subsequent suicide attempts: A longitudinal survey of young adults in Great Britain, 2018-20

Wardle et al (2023) examined the association between changes in severity of problem gambling and attempted suicide. The researchers used the Emerging Adults Gambling Survey—a longitudinal survey of people in England, Scotland, and Wales, aged 16 to 24 years old. Researchers looked at PGSI scores across interview timepoints and examined the relationship between changes in PGSI scores and suicidality. Increased problem gambling behaviour over time was associated with attempted suicide.
