Senator Jesse James on Coauthoring New Abortion Exceptions Bill

MadisonSenator Jesse James (R- Altoona) released the following statement regarding the circulation of a new abortion exceptions bill he coauthored with Sen. Mary Felzkowski (R- Tomahawk):

“Today we released LRB 2151/1, which would provide exceptions to Wisconsin’s abortion law. We all know that this is a sensitive and divided topic, and one that I have given a lot of thought and prayer to,” said James.

He continued, “This bill would allow abortion exceptions in cases of rape, incest, and a mother’s life being in danger. Abortion should never be used as a form of birth control. This is for extremely rare, personal, and traumatic scenarios where the woman is left with few choices.”

“As a cop, I have seen some of the worst circumstances you could imagine. In an ideal world, rape and incest would never happen. As it is, this legislation would exist for women forced into these situations,” he stated.

Sen. James concluded, “This bill will also provide an important clarification on what the life of the mother would mean. I look forward to having this important discussion with my colleagues.”
