Wear Pink for Laetare Sunday: March 19

In each penitential season (Advent & Lent) there is a mid-way lightening to “refresh” us along the way. That’s why Advent Wreaths have a rose/pink candle halfway through the season. It’s still penitential purple but a lighter shade. As we don’t have “Lent Wreathes” it is harder to see. Traditionally, clergy wear rose/pink on these Sundays. Yet, clergy vestments are very expensive and not every parish invests that much money on vestments that are only worn twice a year. So, since we don’t have rose chasubles, I’m inviting all of you to wear pink/rose on March 19 for a bit of fun for “Bubble Gum Sunday” to cheer and refresh us before the second half of Lent. Also for fun, the children will be shadowing me for an interactive Sunday Mass.
—Fr. Shane

  • Diapers (Pampers preferred brand) Newborn sizes 1, 2, 4, and 5
  • Wipes

Nametags!

Please wear your nametag every Sunday when you come to church. It is especially important that we make it easy for Father Shane to identify each of us and learn our names. But it is also helpful for newcomers who do not know anyone.

Check the nametag rack on your way into the sanctuary and pick up your nametag. Wear it where it is clearly visible to anyone who is speaking with you. Be sure to return your nametag to the rack as you leave.

Can’t find yours, or never got one to begin with? Let Clyde Dodge know, and he will have one made for you. You can contact him at clydedodge@cox.net.

For those without permanent nametags, we will have stick-on nametags available for the next several weeks. Please get one of those each week until your permanent nametag arrives.

May We Pray for You?

Prayer requests will remain on the list for three weeks unless otherwise requested. Contact Brooke Pauley, The Rev. Dr. Barbara Stewart, or submit your prayer request via our website Prayer Request form.
Communion in both kinds.
Wherever you are on your spiritual journey you are welcome to come forward to receive the consecrated wine and wafers. Wine will be served by our chalice bearers from the common cup. In keeping with the pandemic safety guidelines from our bishop, the communicant may drink from the chalice or, in the alternative, the priest will dip the wafer into the wine and place it directly on the communicant’s tongue. If you prefer not to have wine, simply cross your arms over your chest after receiving the wafer.

Gluten-free wafers are available: just ask the priest when you come forward to the altar rail.
COVID UPDATE as of February 15, 2022:
All worshipers who are fully vaccinated are no longer required to wear masks at indoor gatherings. However, if you are not vaccinated, please wear a mask as required by the state COVID guidelines. Masks are available at the entrance to the church. Thank you all for your help in keeping our church a safe place for those most vulnerable.

Share Your Joy
Through Flowers

Members of the congregation may sponsor altar flowers, chapel flowers, and the sanctuary light in thanksgiving for all the blessings of this life or in memory of loved ones. The flowers are arranged by our Flower Guild with donors acknowledged in the Sunday bulletin. Call the church office at (949) 644-0463 or make your donation via our website at https://www.stmikescdm.org/altar-flower-and-sanctuary-light-donations/
