For ten years, Assemblymember Rosenthal has led the New York State Assembly's response to the needs of those living with lymphatic diseases (LDs). Most recently, Assemblymember Rosenthal's leadership in political advocacy led to the adoption of a World Lymphedema Day resolution honoring Andrea Weinreb at the State Capitol in Albany, NY, on March 1. In 2016, Assemblymember Rosenthal sponsored the successful resolution making the New York State Assembly the first government body in the world to establish World Lymphedema Day. Assemblymember Rosenthal also sponsored and successfully passed a first-in-nation bill requiring all NY State hospital institutions to provide information about lymphedema (LE) to at-risk patients. Each year she has secured funding from the Assembly for LE&RN's International Patient Registry and Biorepository, guaranteeing researchers the resources to find tomorrow's treatments and cures for LDs.
