Check the PGOSA Calendar.

PGOSA AGM  is April 19

The PGOSA Annual General Meeting is coming up in April – scheduled for April 19 at 7:00 pm at the Bradley Center.  Please mark this date/time on your calendar and plan on attending. It is at this meeting we elect our Board of Directors, make any necessary changes to our bylaws, and have an opportunity to listen to members, get direction, and plan for the upcoming spring/summer season.

Three percent of membership, or about 30 members, are involved in organizing and running activities and the association.  We are always looking for capable members to assist with Board Work – planning, organizing, coordinating, communicating are the key aspects of the PGOSA Board. Or, assist or run an activity. Over the last five years we have lost  some of our sports/activities due to their manager aging and stepping down.  Activities such as bowling, carpet bowling, yoga, badminton, tennis, and golf are not happening as PGOSA activities as no one has stepped up to take over from an aging Manager.

Think about stepping up to help and, if you have a willingness to assist with Board work or in running an activity, let us know. Reply to the Chronicle and you will be contacted.  PGOSA is only as strong as the volunteers who step up to take on a leadership position!   Without a strong Board of Directors what we have with PGOSA will slowly dissolve as it takes volunteers and work to keep everything up and running smoothly.

Social Survey

The social committee will be meeting soon to analyze what the 250 completed surveys have told us regarding PGOSA social activities. The planning meeting will take place at the new Parksville QF, upstairs in their Meeting Room, on Tuesday, April 21st at 1:30 pm. Any members who would like to assist with social activities are welcome to attend.

From the survey done in Dec./Jan. there are no big surprises with the majority of returns indicating social events are important and need to continue – both large events for all members and that activity specific smaller gatherings are an integral and fun part of the activity. Stayed tuned for further results and what the social committee is planning for this spring, summer, and fall.
