Neighbourhood Connection Grants

The Communities First team is happy to announce a new grant program opening 2nd March 2023: the Neighbourhood Connection Grants!

Anyone living in Nillumbik is welcome to apply for $250 grants to run one-off events for you and your neighbours. The aim of these events is to increase connection in local neighbourhoods, which will also be helpful in the case of an emergency.
Read the grant guidelines and apply: Neighbourhood Connection Grants - Nillumbik Shire Council

We need new committee members to continue next year!

The St Andrews Film Society was officially launched on October 30th, 2011 at the “Image and Sound” event that demonstrated to the community all the things the newly installed A/V system could offer.

January 2012 was the beginning of many years of once-a-month Friday night movies enjoyed by the many members. Not long after, the Day Group was launched, and then the Family Group.

Each year, at the AGM, the committee stand down, allowing the opportunity for new members to nominate for the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and a representative of the Family Group and, at present, at least two general members.

Over the previous years quite a few members have put their hands up for the different positions. Because SAFS was my “baby”, I’ve been happy to nominate for the position of President each year, and so far, no one has taken up the offer to take on that role.

But, after over ten years as president, I have made the decision not to nominate at the next AGM.

Our secretary let us know a few months ago that she would not be standing again. After discussing all this with the committee, the Vice President and one General Member have also made the decision not to nominate. Our Treasurer is prepared to stay on if the required positions are filled and SAFS continues into the future. We have a possible replacement for the position of Secretary.

The Day Group convenor was unable to continue running that group and so the Day Group is unable to operate until someone new volunteers to fill that role.

The Family Group has been re started by some enthusiastic parents with young children.

If you are a member, or would like to join SAFS, would you consider standing for President, or any other position on the committee at the next AGM? I would be happy to meet with you to discuss what is involved.
