SUNDAY BLAST
March 5, 2023

Greetings, Michigan Wolverines. Michigan Men’s Basketball. So close! Michigan 73, Indiana 75.

Now, the details for Monday. Doors open at 10 am at Weber’s. Menu choices include Whitefish or London Broil with accompanying side dishes. The menu is different than indicated on your Weber’s sheet. Often, the kitchen staff is required to make changes, however, they are always good. The basketball speaker has not been announced. Our second speaker will be Softball’s newest Head Coach but not someone new to most of us, Bonnie Tholl. Bonnie has a great beginning to the season. The upcoming home games are on March 10 and 11, 2023. vs. Georgia Southern and March 12 vs. Kent State.

Michigan Men’s Basketball played against Indiana. Final score, Indiana 75, Michigan 73. The NCAA Tournament information will not be announced until 10 pm, so I will need to stop and announce the results on Monday. Michigan may be either a 5 or an 8.

Congratulations to Iowa, the Women’s Big Ten Champions. Iowa beat OSU on Sunday, 105-72. Iowa has won back-to-back Tournament Championships, broke several Big Ten records and will host the first two Tournament games in Iowa City.

Our Michigan Women’s Basketball team lost a heartbreaker but will compete in the NCAA Tournament. Days to be announced.

Congratulations as well to the Michigan Ice Hockey team, winning both games over Wisconsin on a snowy weekend in Ann Arbor. Friday, Michigan 6, Wisconsin 5. Saturday Michigan 7, Wisconsin 4. Michigan will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, March 11 at 6.30 pm against either South Bend or Columbus. This is a single elimination game.

This was a good weekend for Michigan’s Women’s Water Polo team, wining against Bucknell and Saint Frances at Canham Natatorium in Ann Arbor.

This is also the Big Ten Wrestling Tournament weekend, still going on. We will announce the winners on Monday. Our visitors got a glimpse of Michigan in all its winter splendor—ice, no power and heavy, wet snow.

Visit this page for the candidates who ran for the U of M Club of Ann Arbor Board of Governors. At our regular Board meeting on Tuesday, the four candidates were elected by acclimation. Cynthia Natsis was elected in a separate vote. Cynthia will resume her activities immediately since she is filling a current vacancy on the Board. Thank you to our Nomination and Elections Committee for a fine job. Because of their effort, it was not necessary to send out a nomination form to our membership, thus saving the Club about one thousand dollars. Members were encouraged to submit prospective candidates to the Committee prior to the election. Please make sure to congratulate our newest Board members. Their term will begin on July 1, 2023, they are the Class of 2026.

Reminder, Monday is the last luncheon until the Spring Luncheon on April 3, 2023. Speaker details will follow. It’s also our Michigan Goodies Event. Not too late to bring your clean, in good repair, Michigan items. Thank you, Patsy Klassen, for the great pictures and for filling in for Joyce Galindo.

Thank you all for your continuing support this season, it is very much appreciated. Sometime, our surprises are worth waiting for. What a great speaker last Monday—the voice of Michigan basketball, Brian Boesch…and he loved you and your questions. Go Blue. It may rain outside, but lots of sunshine inside.
