Our mental and emotional spaces gather clutter - old memories, irritations, failures - that gets in our way. Pausing to bring awareness to the present moment (perhaps through observing your breathing) can clear the clutter.

Try: When mulling over unhelpful memories, ask if they are clutter in your mind and, if so, come back to the present moment through your breathing.
The practice of gratitude helps lower anxiety and develop a more positive and optimistic attitude among other benefits, the research shows. Learn about the benefits and some ways to cultivate gratitude at this 1hr 15min event on Zoom from 7pm to 8.15pm. The event will be recorded (the recording won't identify participants) and everybody who books will receive a link to the recording. This is a donation event. Learn more
Yesterday's Daily Bell
Suppose you have a radio that won't stop playing when you switch it off. To get anything done you might have to turn down the volume and let it fade into the background. Sometimes you have to do that with the thinking mind - turn down the volume which means re-directing your awareness to something that meets your needs or that you want to do.

Try: Practise turning your awareness to something useful or enjoyable while letting your thoughts run on in the background without paying much attention to them.
