Bridge Scholars at CSU
Build a Better Book at CU Boulder
The Build a Better Book project began in 2017 to study youth engagement in the design and creation of accessible materials with STEM and maker technologies and interest in STEM. careers. In phase 2 of the project (Empathy-Driven Engineering Internships for Teens: Connecting Technical Work to Social Needs; 2021-25), we are examining the influences of a professionally-structured, empathy-driven engineering internship on teens’ perceptions of engineering, identities, and transferrable STEM skills. This is a four- week internship that runs from June 19 - July 20, 2023. We will not meet the week of July 3-7. Interns are expected to complete 25 hours per week, Monday - Thursday (approx. 9 AM - 4 PM). Stipend of $1200 after successful completion of the program.

Frontiers of Science Institute SIX-WEEK SUMMER PROGRAM at the University of Northern Colorado.
June 12 - July 22, 2023.
Spend your summer engaged in authentic experiences to grow your knowledge and interest in STEM. Make friends, have fun, and experience a collegiate learning environment while learning about cutting-edge STEM topics and engaging in mentored research.
WHO CAN APPLY TO FSI? If you have a strong desire to challenge yourself and engage in STEM investigations, have a high level of self discipline, dependability, and social maturity, and are currently in high school grades 9-11, you're eligible! Areas considered when selecting applicants are an interest in STEM, a willingness to engage in STEM studies, a history of engagement in your community, and the commitment and enthusiasm to be part of a diverse cohort of students who live and learn together.

Youth Cohort: The Piton Fellowship:
- With a strong focus on justice, racial equity and inclusion, the Youth Cohort of the Piton Fellowship is a paid summer fellowship predominantly aiming to help aspiring social changemakers of color ages 14-20 learn from experts, grow as humans and connect with a diverse network of their peers.
- Fellows will meet in person at the Gary offices near Union Station roughly for 20-25 hours a week from June 5 to July 28 to Participate in individual and collective leadership learning exercises with experts in the business, policy and philanthropic sectors, which will give fellows the opportunity to provide actionable recommendations for social change specific to their communities.
- Receive compensation of $2,500 upon successful completion of the program.
