Call for Special Junior Nominees for the 2023/2024 seasons

Do you know an exceptional young person who would like to be considered for the opportunity to become a junior member at HGCC?
 
Over the last number of years, the Board of Directors has permitted a limited number of outstanding juniors from the Greater Hamilton community to join the Club. Each applicant must meet specific qualifications, be interviewed, selected and have their name circulated to the membership before final approval. Those that are successful will be active juniors for two seasons.
 
The purpose of this program is to strengthen our connection to the community and promote the game of golf.  We want to provide an opportunity for junior golfers in the Hamilton community, that do not have a family connection to HGCC, to experience a junior membership and its benefits – friendships, competition, networking, etc...
 
We encourage the membership to share this outstanding opportunity with young individuals who may wish to be considered for this amazing chance.

Eligibility:

• Age 13-17 (cannot turn 19 before October 31, 2024)
• Live in the Greater Hamilton area
• Demonstrate a passion for the game of golf
• Have contributed positively to the community
• Achieve high academic standards – 83% minimum (transcript required)
• Submit an essay, noting the above components, plus other helpful information to introduce yourself – 2 pages or less, please

Term:
2-year term (2023 and 2024 seasons) and can re-apply if within the eligibility requirements.
 
Restrictions:
Junior tee time restrictions, and participation in regular events, but participation in the Club Championship will not be permitted.
 
Fees:
Full junior fees apply and Golf Canada handicapping requirements
2023 = $1,323 + $30 + taxes
2024 = To be determined

How to Apply:
Complete an application and submit a transcript (official not required) along with an essay where you will introduce yourself, verify the eligibility requirements and demonstrate your commitment to the game, the Club, and the community.
 
Application process:
Application submission, interview process, if selected we will circulate your name to the general membership for seven days and then final Board approval may be granted.

We are now accepting interested candidates.  Application packages must be received by Friday, March 24, at 5pm in order to be considered.
