BLLT Member Update: March 7, 2023

At Banff & Lake Louise Tourism we are dedicated to bringing you up-to-date information important to your business and community.

Community Impact Program supports economic and social sustainability
This week will see the public launch of our Community Impact Program, an initiative to encourage Business Events clients to choose Banff and Lake Louise for their meetings and events. It makes a positive impact on our community by generating contributions to local charitable organizations and encouraging local spending. Business Events clients and meeting planners can offer this pre-paid card to meeting attendees and their guests to purchase goods and services in Banff and Lake Louise hotels, restaurants, and shops, as well as activities. To support the program, Banff & Lake Louise Tourism will share a portion of the cost of providing each card. A pre-determined donation from each card will go directly to Banff Canmore Community Foundation, for use by a local charity. The incentive program will provide insights to help us understand the value each business event brings to the destination and our community's charitable organizations.

Watch for the press release later this week. Contact the Business Events team for more information.

Summer Campaign targets international and US markets
We have launched our summer marketing campaign to entice travelers to choose Banff and Lake Louise as their preferred destination this summer. BLLT secures $600,000 of PrairiesCan funding for tourism projects
We have been successful in securing $600,000 from the Tourism Relief Fund through PrairiesCan, part of a $17.8M boost for Alberta tourism announced last week. The investment has helped to fund the 10-Year Vision for sustainable tourism in Banff and Lake Louise, and supported the development of the Trip Builder on our website, which creates a brilliant experience for visitors, helping them to plan ahead and connect to member businesses to ensure an unforgettable visit. Our successful application for this investment was in line with our strategy to diversify and optimize funding, as set out in BLLT’s 2023 Business Plan. Check out the Trip Builder here.

Where can visitors purchase a National Park Pass?
Our Visitor Services team is answering many questions about park passes. Your frontline team is likely responding to similar questions. Whether visitors are travelling and exploring the park by foot, bicycle, bus or vehicle, a national park pass is necessary. Banff National Park entry fees help support visitor services, facilities and conservation so that our mountains, wildlife and culture can be enjoyed for generations. For convenience and trip planning, visitors can purchase a national park pass in advance. Our visitor services team is happy to answer questions from visitors and locals! Connect with us here.

The ultimate winter destination
We hosted Toronto-based influencer Will Tang, Going Awesome Places in partnership with SkiBig3 to showcase Banff and Lake Louise as the ultimate winter destination. With SnowDays at the center of the itinerary, this collaboration aimed to inspire and demonstrate that Banff and Lake Louise is the ultimate winter destination and featured over 25 member businesses. View ADVENTURE in Banff & Lake Louise - SkiBig3, Snowshoeing, SnowDays and Scrumptious Food

Alberta Tourism Advocacy Summit
Banff & Lake Louise Tourism attended the Alberta Tourism Advocacy Summit last week, alongside members, the Banff & Lake Louise Hospitality Association, the Association for Mountain Parks Protection and Enjoyment, and the Town of Banff. BLLT sponsors the event, which is hosted by the Tourism Industry Association of Alberta (TIAA) and provides an excellent opportunity to connect with government. Speakers included the federal and provincial tourism ministers, the Alberta Premier and the leader of the Opposition. Attendees discussed the need for sustainable funding pathways for the tourism industry; better use of immigration programs to assist with labour challenges; and the importance of non-partisan, evidence-based advocacy. TIAA published a study on the economic impacts and contribution tourism in the province. Read more here.
