With Book Day, Reports and Parents Evening, it has been a tremendously busy start to the second half of this term. I intended to remind parents of these events last week, but was unable to get a newsletter out.
Thank you to everyone for being 'on the ball' anyway, because all the children were prepared for Book Day, and most of you came to school this afternoon to see the children's work and have discussions with the teacher about how the children are doing. We really appreciate your support!
Looking ahead at the remainder of the week, I would just like to share the messages below with you, in particular the weather warning - just so we're all prepared.

You may have seen that the weather for the end of this week is looking very interesting. The forecast is for snow, but it is not yet clear how much snow will fall. It is however best to be prepared and here are a few things you should know:
- We do our utmost to keep the school open but keeping everyone safe is more important. If we can't get lunches, heating or adequate staff into school, we will have to close. You will be notified of the arrangements via email by 8am. We also let Radio Cumbria know. Please don't ring the school - if it's closed, there won't be anyone there...
- We do not operate our minibusses when roads are slippery - the buses will only operate when the winter conditions are not a risk factor.
- We urge everyone (staff and families) to use their own judgement in whether their journey to school is safe enough. Please ask yourself whether the journey is worth the risk.
- If there is snow, we will allow children to play in it. Please make sure that they come prepared for this with warm clothes and spares.
- If it snows, any trips that are planned for that day will be cancelled.

Every spring there are lots of jobs around the school. This is why we are planning a 'Tidy Friday' on 24th March. We invite anyone from our whole school community (parents, carers, governors, etc.) to work with the children to get the school looking great again after winter. This will involve sorting out the school's storage sheds, building a tree nursery with Roy from the National Trust, preparing some vegetable plots, planting up the baskets and some general tidying up. We think that it will be a fun but busy day!

Please could all children, including those in Class 1, have a sports kit in school at all times. We are not always able to do PE at the usual times and sometimes we do some extra PE when we are preparing for a competition. Many thanks
