Xhosa Cole

Critically acclaimed saxophonist, flautist and composer, Xhosa Cole is an embodiment of the success of numerous community outreach arts programmes in Birmingham. Having started playing Tenor Saxophone at Andy Hamilton MBE’s Ladywood Community Music School, Xhosa has now established himself among the long legacy of Birmingham Saxophonists including Soweto Kinch and Shabaka Hutchings. BOOK NOW

46 CATS By Kathryn Fowler
Cafe Wall
Created over a seven-month period between 2021 - 22, Island artist Kathryn Fowler presents, for the first time, a collection of 46 watercolour cat miniatures.
 
A self-professed 'slow' painter, Kathryn turned from larger works to miniatures and explored a variety of themes before devising this collection of uniformly sized cats, taking inspiration from photographs of her late cat 'Poppy' and images sourced from magazines. See on website
Just The Place - Boojum & Snark
West Gallery

An exhibition exploring the role of placemaking in Boojum & Snark’s cultural projects. Funded by Arts Council England.

Placemaking is a way to unlock a sense of pride, passion and wonder in your place. It relies on making authentic connections that strengthen peoples relationship to their place. For Boojum&Snark, placemaking also involves bringing activities, projects, experiences to Sandown that arouse curiosity and inspire interest and love for the town. See on website

of the Isle of Wight

The exhibition features three cabinets that were part of a project called ‘Natural Wonders of the Isle of Wight‘ commissioned by the Isle of Wight Natural History & Archaeological Society as part of their Centenary celebrations.  See on website

Lucy Porter - Wake Up Call

Wake-Up Call is a show about revelations, realisations and epiphanies – both large and small. Subjects covered include: Bin collection schedules, the novels of Jean Rhys, cats, school fair booze tombolas, the Scottish Enlightenment, pressure washers and Huel.
