Our Greatest Needs: Water for the Thirsty

A person can survive between one and two months without food. But a person can survive only two to three days without water. Water is one of our greatest needs. Research shows that even slight dehydration will adversely affect your mood, memory, and motor coordination. Become seriously dehydrated, and life ends quickly. This helps us understand what Scripture means when it says things like, “My soul thirsts for God” (Psalm 42:2). If one is separated from God, he is adversely affected. If he remains separated from God, he will die an agonizing eternal death.
Not all admit it; yet it remains true for all. Everyone has a deep spiritual thirst. In our heart of hearts, we all long for everlasting life. Unbelievers try to satisfy that deep thirst with worldly things, a strategy doomed for failure. Believers look to the One who has promised, “Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.” Jesus meets our greatest needs. He alone possesses the water that satisfies those who are spiritually parched. He alone grants eternal life. Join us for worship this weekend, as Jesus continues to meet our greatest needs. Our guest preacher will be Pastor Tom Pankow. We will also receive holy communion together.

Divine Call Extended

On February 28, Riverview extended a divine call to Mrs. Sheryl Winsor to teach first grade. Mrs. Winsor currently serves as a teacher's aide in our school. Click here to read her letter to the congregation. Please keep Mrs. Winsor in your prayers as she deliberates this call.

Sunday Bible Study

In his second letter to Timothy, St. Paul wrote, “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season” (4:2). Like Timothy, we have a message to share with sinners who desperately need to hear it. Using St. Paul’s experiences in the city of Philippi as a model, In Season and Out of Season will encourage and equip all of us to share that message in any and every situation. Join us for bible study Sundays, 9:20-10:10 am.

Pictorial Directory Update

Thank you for your patience with our new pictorial directory. The directory has been submitted to Universal Church Directories, and we are waiting on a final proof and then printing. We expect it to arrive near the beginning of May. All who had photos taken for the directory will receive a copy at that time.

Midweek Lent Worship & Meals

Set aside extra time during the season of Lent to reflect on the price our Savior paid for our salvation. Join us for midweek devotional services Wednesdays through March 29, at 3:30 and 6:30 pm. This year's theme is His Final Steps, in which we ponder the significance of the people and places on Jesus’ resolute final steps to the cross and three days later, his first steps from the tomb.
A Lenten meal will be served each week from 4:15-6:15 pm in the Activity Center (gymnasium).
