HEEEYYY GIRLLL!
Happy International Women's Day!

The Equity Alliance is a woman founded and led organization that fully recognizes the visionary, creative, and magnetic blessing of women. We appreciate every woman who has partnered, worked, donated, volunteered, cheered, petitioned, marched, registered voters, or showed up in any of many ways to support us. Never forget that you are enough, worth it, and cherished.

May every woman and everyone who loves a woman, celebrate the power of womanhood.

HOLD UP, WAIT A MINUTE

Whew, chile.

We've shared how House Bill 0048/Senate Bill 0087 aim to reduce the Metro Nashville and Davidson County Council size and representation. Well, the latest news is that Tennessee House Republicans have passed the bill, with Democrats rejecting it.

What will this bill do?

  • Reduce the council's size from 40 members to 20 members
  • Increase term limits from 3 years to 4 years
  • Change the election cycle to August 2024 and members will take office September 1, 2024
  • Eliminate run off elections
  • Reapportion council districts based on the 2020 U.S. Census

CONGRATS, LIBERATORS!
We are proud to announce the latest graduates of our signature program, the LiberTEA Collective.

Cohort 7 participants have earned their title of Liberator by actively engaging in 8-weeks of civic and political curriculum rooted in Black healing and liberation. They are positioned to bring solutions to the rapid legislative regression, socially bankrupt behavior, and harmful state of our state.

Collectively, they are:
  • Citizens and constituents
  • Degreed and disabled
  • Spouses, parents, godparents, rising or already rich aunties
  • Business owners, non-profit founders, and board candidates
  • Proud to be Black and sitting with the what ifs of being proud to be American
  • Disruptors, delegates, and dynamic forces for continuing the Lord’s work and good trouble
Most importantly, they are ready to authentically activate at a higher level.

We salute the LiberTEA Collective Cohort 7 and look forward to their evolving journey.

INVEST IN & WITH US
Let's do this together.

Our state legislators are too comfortable working against the needs and desires of Tennesseans - especially Black Tennesseans. We must show and prove to them that we will not stand for our rights, livelihoods, and best interests to be dismissed or disrespected.

Stand with us by investing in our mission, work, and results.
With your help we will continue to stand on the local and statewide frontlines with communities and causes. You are a vital part of building an unrelenting force of democracy defenders and engaged constituents.
YOU + US = MAXIMUM IMPACT
INVEST IN THE EQUITY ALLIANCE
The Equity Alliance unapologetically builds independent Black political and economic power. We educate, empower, and mobilize people to take action and keep our government in check.

Based in Nashville, TN, we are a statewide 501(c)(3) nonpartisan and non-profit organization and unrelenting force that advocates for equitable opportunities and systems that improve the quality of life for Black people. Authenticity and innovation fuel our approach to equip citizens with tools and strategies to fully participate in civic processes and champion solutions to issues that affect their daily lives.
