Some big things have been happening

We are starting the year off strong with a ton of community events including our new weekly Wheelchair Hiking program, new Community Meet-ups in Salem and Vancouver, and an Ice Skating event coming up on April 10th at the LLoyd Center in Portland. Building community and creating opportunities for those with a spinal cord injury to socialize and stay healthy is one of the most important parts of our work.

This year also kicks off with an exciting new partnership with QUAD Inc. They are a non-profit organization that provides a model of affordable housing that is barrier-free and allows individuals with disabilities to live independently. Our new Community Health Worker, Josiah Morrow will be focusing on providing services to those served by QUAD Inc. Together our organizations can magnify our impact.

A new Ms.Wheelchair Oregon was crowned recently and it's our very own Hannah Rarick! Hannah is one of our newest Community Health workers serving Southern Oregon. You can find her at our monthly meet-ups in Medford, quarterly Wheelchair Maintenance Workshops in Talent, or the various recreational activities we hold in Southern Oregon throughout the year. The Ms. Wheelchair Oregon program is designed to promote the importance of advocacy and empowerment. As the new titleholder Hannah will be spreading the good word about all the opportunities for wheelchair users in Oregon and advocating for increased access for our community.

Thank you for being a part of the OSCI family.
To our health, our community and creating new opportunities!

Meet Our Team

Josiah Morrow joined OSCI in 2023 as a Community Health Worker. His work focuses on partnering with QUAD Inc. and providing services to their clients.

After a T8 spinal cord injury in 2013 he became a big part of the SCI community. He enjoys doing peer to peer work and helping others in the same way he was helped after his injury.

Hannah Rarick became an OSCI Commiunity Health Worker in 2022. She was paralyzed from the chest down during a motorcycle accident in 2018. Peer mentors helped her realize engaging with the SCI community was the best way to overcome the challenges that follow a spinal cord injury.

Hannah was crowned Ms. Wheelchair Oregon 2023. She is excited to use the role to increase her advocacy efforts.
