There certainly has been an evolution on how to market and stay connected with a guest base over the years. When I started(1988) I had a desk calendar(big) and a pencil to mark in reservations. If for some reason there was a cancellation, I could errase the information. We would garner new guest base by attending sport shows as well as print ad and radio ads. To stay in contact with the current guest base we would send out snail mail .
Although sport shows, print and radio ads are still a thing, Email contact and social media seem to be the predominant methods to stay current.
Over the years I have tried not to inundate our guestbase with endless promotions.
I still love what I do. Developing original programs and staffing them with real guides, working with our great crews and hanging out with the guest base at our lodges (some of these guests have been fishing with us for over 30 years) Personally I still love to guide but also love to hang out with the grandbabies:))
