🚔Overnight security patrols in the Oakland Chinatown 奧克蘭唐人街夜間巡邏
Dear Oakland Chinatown Community Members,
During the Lunar New Year Season, the Oakland Chinatown Improvement Council (“OCIC”) contracted with security company DLSCorp (“Defense Logistics Specialist Corp”) to provide overnight security patrols in the Oakland Chinatown area. OCIC has extended these patrols into month of March, and hopes to continue them for as long as our current budget and possible outside funding allows. For now, DLSCorp personnel are continuing to conduct daily vehicle patrols of Oakland Chinatown from 7 pm to 7 am. We hope that these patrols will help residents, merchants, and visitors feel more comfortable and safe, and help deter criminal activity in our community.
Although security personnel cannot directly intervene in criminal incidents, they will monitor and report criminal activity, medical emergencies, fires, and other occurrences that they encounter to the appropriate first responders. Each marked security vehicle is equipped with a camera and GPS tracker. You may check the location of the patrol car at any time at https://accounts.dronemobile.com/login, using the following username: christina.chen@morganlewis.com, and password: Ocic2023#. If you would like to access copies of daily activity reports (generated by our guards’ TrackTik software) by email, you may log in to https://dls.staffr.net/ and click on the “Reports” tab, using the username and password of OCIC2@OCIC.COM and Abc1234$. A few sample reports from our hardworking overnight guards, Larry and Eduardo, are attached for reference.
Additionally, here is the dedicated phone number for the patrol unit, at 510-514-9370. You may call in during shift hours for the following requests:
- Response to alarm calls, verify active criminal activity, and report incidents to police
- Standbys for store closing
- Property check
- Checking on the unhoused
We cannot guarantee that the patrol will be able to respond to all calls, or be able to detect and report all incidents that occur. But our guards will strive to provide as much coverage as possible to the 52 square blocks of our Oakland Chinatown community benefits district, and in turn provide our community some peace of mind during these difficult times.
