HOW YOU CAN PARTICIPATE IN
"MOVING FORWARD IN FAITH"

Under the heading of “Moving Forward in Faith,” Christ the King is embarking on a three-month project proposed by the Racial Solidarity Team and approved by the Congregation Council on February 26. The purpose of this project is to do a “racial equity assessment,” evaluating the events surrounding the resignation of Pastor Nikkeya last December, discerning how far CTK has come in its journey to becoming a more anti-racist church, and developing the next steps. To help us do this important work, we have engaged Rev. Brenda Smith, a retired African American Lutheran pastor from Baltimore, and Deacon Tammy Devine, who is White and lives in Minnesota. The two of them have teamed up to do anti-racism training with many congregations across the country. Pastor Brenda will visit Cary March 17-20 and conduct one-on-one interviews with CTK members who are BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color). She will also connect with members after services, and you can connect with her via e-mail as well, brendiksmith@gmail.com.

Deacon Tammy will offer online small group sessions for our members who are White via zoom, lasting about 45 minutes to an hour. The following days and times are available:

  • Tuesday, March 21, 3pm and 7pm
  • Tuesday, March 28, 1pm
  • Wednesday, March 29, 10am and 4pm
  • Tuesday, April 4, 11am

Please select the date and time that works for you and sign up in Church Center. For questions about “Moving Forward in Faith,” call Pastor Wolfgang Herz-Lane at 856-278-3055.

Dinner for Eight begins March 18

Do you want to come over for dinner? During the months of March, April and May the Evangelism Team (E-Team) will be helping to arrange dinners March 18, April 15, and May 20 to be held in participants’ home. These are fellowship events, in groups of eight adults, to help people get to know each other in an informal way.

If you would like to participate or host an event for the month of March, sign up in Church Center or use the sign up sheets in the atrium. Times to be determined by each host. Contact Peggy Hawkins (910-620-0455) or Judy Kline (919-454-5906) with any questions.

CTK Young Adults support
Service Raleigh Event

Service Raleigh, started in 1988, is an annual citywide day of service funded by the Park Foundation, the Goodnight Scholars Program, North Carolina State University (NCSU) Student Government, NCSU Inter-Residence Council, and local donors. Each year, volunteers from the university and surrounding community unite and complete a variety of projects, which provides much needed assistance to local organizations. The CTK Young Adults’ group will be participating in this event on Saturday, April 1. The volunteer event will be in the morning starting at 8am and will be followed by a group lunch. Please reach out to Jessica Mauney at jessicamauney6@gmail.com by March 28 to register.
