CALLING ALL GRANDMOTHERS FOR 3/21

The National Day of Action Against Dirty Banks on 3/21 is off and running. The afternoon action will commence at 3:30 pm at 420 Montgomery where the international headquarters of Wells Fargo is located. There will be an outpouring of art and music including a beautiful street mural designed by Indigenous artists. Although the speaker list is still developing, Rebecca Solnit and Akaya Winwood are certain. In addition, there will be a mass cutting up of large symbolic bank and credit cards with big Alice-in- Wonderland size scissors. You have to see it to believe it. If you liked Valentine’s Day, you’ll love March 21st.

Grandmothers event to start off the action!

Many of us will be meeting in the plaza just contingent to the Montgomery Bart Station to walk/ march together to the Wells Fargo location. We urge all Grandmothers to be at the station at 2:45 pm sharp. We will step off the Montgomery/Post/Market Street plaza precisely at 2:50 for the 4-block walk to Wells Fargo. We’ll be with the Puppets and filled with song. Of course, Grandmothers will be participating in various aspects of the day, check out the Signal threads if you want to be involved, help with the puppets, etc.

There will also be smaller bank actions around the Bay Area in the morning on 3/21. Go to bit.ly/StopDirtyBanks to find one in your area.

WE NEED HELP DISTRIBUTING FLYERS & POSTERS NOW

David Solnit has provided us with awesome postcard-sized, sturdy handouts as well as great posters. We also have some of the Love Letter flyers we did. We need help from any and all Grandmothers who have some time to distribute. You can either join one of us or choose to do it on your own wherever you want. We hope to go to UC Berkeley, farmers markets, religious services, wherever we can think of that people gather. We’ll be walking commercial areas in SF. Time is short and this is such a great opportunity to get the word out. If you have suggestions, let us know. If interested in helping,

contact Nancy Kurshan at nancykurshan44@gmail.com, China Brotsky at chinab999@gmail.com and for SF leafleters through 4/14 contact Margy Baran at Margaret_Baran@yahoo.com.

David Solnit will also be holding an Art Build for the Action from 2-4pm on Saturday, 3/18. It will be at The Bridge, 23 Maine Avenue in Richmond. Alli invited!
