Greetings Forest Park Students and Families,

FPE Students and Teachers packed a lot of joyful learning experiences into February…March is equally full! Students attended an assembly this past Monday and helped us kick off our awareness of Women’s History Month, Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, and we want to wish Happy Purim to Students and Families who began celebrating Monday night:  (link to more info.).

March will be filled with all the great work students and teachers come together to do each day, as well as some extras! Remember to keep working on those Science Fair/Learning EXPO projects for Thursday, March 23rd.  Our Kindness Brigade is preparing to help lead Connect to Kindergarten events that begin next month. Students can also expect a very fun assembly next Monday morning:  “Suit Up and Save the World”(link to more info.).

I want to acknowledge my appreciation of Mrs. Keefer, who serves as our TAG Facilitator, among a number of adjunct-duties, after her teaching days! Mrs. Keefer and I share a passion for differentiating to meet students' needs through gifted experiences. Parents expecting TAG testing results from fall nominations may expect some testing-results delays. The TAG Dept. is aware and working hard to remedy.  Please reach out to me (
amartini@pps.net) with questions/concerns.

Thank you for sharing the joy of each day with us, Dr. Martini
IMPORTANT SCHOOL RELATED UPDATES:

Hello Forest Park,

Mar 6, 2023 Newsletter

Monday morning we had an assembly that touched on so many important topics, we really wish that all the parents of the school could have seen it, so we thought we would take this opportunity to tell you all about it. I hope this helps you feel even more connected to the happenings at school.  Imagine all the students sitting criss-cross applesauce on the gym floor, organized by class and all the teachers and staff sitting on benches around the sides of the gym. Dr. Martini put on a video presentation to honor our classified staff members that do so much for the school. In that presentation were many students making comments of appreciation about the different caring classified staff members around the school. One could hear and see the students light up when they saw a classmate on the big screen. This was an awesome video of appreciation and if you could have looked over to see  Mrs. Gaye Updike, Mrs. Homa Mosharraf, Mr. Jono Vincent, Mrs. Deb Kerrigan, among others  - you might have seen them glow a little.  The assembly also included a short video on disabilities, otherwise known as “super abilities” as Dr. Martini likes to call them. Then there was time to give out the Golden Awards. For those of you who don’t know, we have a Golden Sneaker for the class that shows outstanding effort and sportsmanship when in Mr. Huntley’s P.E. Class. We have a Golden Recorder from Dr. Bob. We have a Golden Lunch Tray for lunchtime and a Golden Heart from the counselors, just to name a few. At the end of the assembly, Dr. Bob led the entire school in a special version of “It’s a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong. It was so touching to watch the entire school sing every word to this old song using American Sign Language, we feel sure you would have loved it.

With love and compassion,

Host a Sign Up Party
During the cocktail hour’s Silent Auction, you will have to opportunity to sign up for fun events like adult dinner parties and kid experiences. These events are hosted by families in our community. Would you be interested in hosting a Geocaching hike with kids? A Frisbee Golf party for adults? A backyard movie night? A BBQ? You name it, others might like to do it too. Please contact FOFPE Secretary, Lyda Hakes if you would like to host a Sign Up party this year. lyda.hakes@gmail.com

Art Underway
The fabulous student art projects are getting underway! Some classes have begun their projects, others are getting started soon. The student art projects are the heart of the Spring Auction.
