No, I didn't get a ticket - but last week I was privileged to meet Deputy Daniel Medlin of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office. He is the SRO at La Crosse Elementary School in La Crosse, VA.  He loves his job and it shows.  We became friends that day.  He reminds me of another life long friend.

Six years ago today on Thursday, March 9, 2017 family and friends were deeply saddened at the passing of Curtis Bartlett.  He served as a deputy sheriff in Carroll County, Virginia.  Bartlett was dedicated to saving and improving the lives of others.  He died in the line of duty.
A Powerful True Story of Inspiration!
In reference to his SRO duties, here is something Curtis wrote on his Facebook page - August 16, 2016:

Having the responsibility to not only protect, but inspire and teach children is the most rewarding job I've ever had.  It's truly an honor and a responsibility that's not take lightly.
Family members and friends started the nonprofit, Curtis Bartlett Fitness, to expand upon Curtis’s legacy and to create a fitness community that serves and honors Veterans and First Responders. Together we will transform our community through purpose driven fitness.
