MEET BOARD MEMBER JOSEPH CHUNG OF
KOALA'S FINE FOODS!

Born in Los Angeles, raised in Atlanta all throughout his childhood. Eventually moved back to Los Angeles and went to Mt. San Antonio college for GE then decided to move back “home” to attend Georgia State University to study business. Upon completion, decided to move back to Los Angeles then to San Diego for a few years. He started off his career with corporate jobs. Starting from a sales assistant position to eventually becoming an account executive  (SaaS).

Life in Guerneville started when he got a call from his mother, Julie. Mama’s boy as he is, was not able to turn down his mother’s request to help run the family restaurant. When he first arrived and saw the name Koala’s Fine Food, burgers & sushi; he felt absolutely conflicted. His stay here was temporary. 2 years top then back to Southern California. Years have passed and now going on 6 years. Over time, he started to appreciate life outside of the city. A small town where pretty much everybody knows each other by name. Today he feels more at home in Guerneville than anywhere else.

Joseph eventually joined the board for Chambers of Commerce. His vision was to bring an unforgettable experience to town and decided to introduce a night market; a family friendly event for everybody to enjoy. Being an avid foodie, he wholeheartedly believes good food brings people together.

Meet Kelly Murray, the new owner Camp Russian River!

"I am a fourth generation Napa resident. It took a lot to get me to leave, and this was it. I was an every weekend camper when I was invited as a plus one to a wedding here. I pointed at the manager’s house and jokingly said to my friend “see that Angela, that will be me someday”. Two years later the owner Richard Burkhardt had management problems, I saw the opening and we ran with it. My husband Mikal and I left our jobs and home and came to Guerneville.

We never dreamed Rich would want us to buy Parker’s Resort and make it our own. His entire family has been so wonderful to us. We want to build off the unique experience the park offers, spotlighting different businesses for our guests to explore when they walk into town. You can enjoy a secluded site in the redwoods, and walk to town for dinner, that really sets us apart.

We hope to honor the rich history of the park and keep it just the way it is, and make the camping experience available for everyone when our comfort camping tents open this summer. We are very excited for what future holds for us at Camp Russian River, and love living here, we wouldn’t have it any other way."

12 English students from Analy High School have been hard at work on their “Create-a-Business” project. This has entailed generating everything from job postings, to pitch decks, to business cards for an original business of their own creation. This long-term project will culminate with a special student showcase event on March 16th (10:30-12:00) in the Analy Library. Please RSVP as the High School needs to account for everyone.
