Urgent Need in Malawi
There is an urgent need in Malawi following the Cyclone and the floods. This devastating occurrence happened in the southern region of the country a few weeks ago. Lives were lost, people were displaced from their homes, and a lot of property was destroyed.
We would like to appeal to the global palliative care fraternity to come together and support. Any amount you donate in the next two months using the WHPCA donate button will be sent to help the people who are worst hit and affected and in need, especially people living with palliative care needs. Let's join in helping people to access essential palliative care services.
Please find the donate button below.

World Tuberculosis Day 2023
Patients with drug-resistant TB (DR-TB) have a high prevalence of symptoms. Palliative care aims to relieve suffering in all stages of the disease. Palliative care for people with TB is similar to palliative care for other diseases for which the care needs to be tailored to the specific needs of the patients. Most palliative care can and should be provided by TB and lung disease specialists, primary care doctors, and nurses with at least basic palliative care training. Most people with DR-TB have palliative care needs.

Last Call!
The World Health Organization (WHO) has asked to address gaps that exist in palliative care service delivery. This is your opportunity to tell the WHO what is missing by participating in the survey and submitting your feedback.
We have drafted a survey with some questions to help us understand how we have been of service and to also find out where we need to improve.
The survey is anonymous and we will not gather your personal information.
Thank you to everyone who has already participated but we still need more of you to give us feedback to help us serve you better.
It’s only 15 questions and takes 5-10 minutes to complete.
You can access the survey HERE.

Help us Close the Access Abyss to Palliative Care
A few months ago, the Help us close the access abyss to palliative care campaign was started to help WHPCA members close this 'access abyss'. At least forty million people and their families living in low or middle-income countries are not able to access palliative care each year, causing unnecessary suffering for the most seriously ill. We are building a movement to ensure that palliative care is included in Universal Health Coverage in all countries. Join the movement HERE.

Stand with Palliative Care Patients in Ukraine
Last year, we witnessed the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. WHPCA with partners ICPCN, PallCHASE, and the Elisabeth Kubler-Ross Foundation came together to raise funds to support palliative care patients in Ukraine and affected countries nearby.
Your generous donation big or small, will help seriously ill people in Ukraine and rebuild access to palliative care once the war and hostilities come to an end.
You can see how the campaign is going.

Global Atlas of Palliative Care
The Global Atlas of Palliative Care is a source of essential information on the status of palliative care worldwide. This second edition of the Global Atlas reveals some of the changes that have occurred since the first edition was published in 2014. For instance, we now have a better idea of how many people need palliative care worldwide.
You can download the new Global Atlas of Palliative Care here.

|
- Don't forget, you can submit your articles for inclusion in ehospice to the editor of the international edition here.
