Your Work is the Worship
 
My Guru very often used to say, ‘Your work is the worship.’ Have that feeling always. Whatever you do, do it as an offering. This can be applied to your family life as well. You can feel that this is God’s family and I am serving them as my worship. We can see all our duties and responsibilities in this light and then they become a practice of Bhakti Yoga.     Swami Satchidananda

How Pranayama Works

The word pranayama is not a single word but rather a combination of two Sanskrit words: prana and ayama. Prana could be translated as vital energy or the cosmic energy that causes any kind of movement. Even the movement of the electrons around the nucleus within an atom is caused by the movement of prana. Wherever you see movement, even thought-movement, it is caused by prana. Over ten years ago, a yogi friend went hiking up a steep mountain. She was wearing good shoes and enjoying the challenge, as well as the stunning view upon reaching the peak. Soon after she began her descent, she slipped and badly twisted her ankle. Immediately, she stopped and focused on prana (life energy) swirling through her ankle, healing, and strengthening. Within ten minutes she was able to continue her descent with no pain and no residual discomfort.  MORE

Integral Yoga Retreats: May & June 2023

Integral Yoga Retreats are a wonderful way to relax, reflect, and rejuvenate through an immersion in Yoga. From May 4–7, a Full Moon Retreat (full moon being an auspicious and uplifting time to engage in spiritual practices according to the Yoga tradition) will be led by Satya Greenstone, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT at Satchidananda Ashram–Yogaville. From June 1–4, a retreat will be led by Swami Ramananda (and senior IY teachers) near the ocean in Bolinas, California at Commonweal Retreat Center.
