LUMC is participating in the Handbags for Hope project this year.
For the past 16 years, the Texas Advocacy Project has collected and distributed thousands of handbags to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking in Texas.  Each bag is fitted with a discreet tag that lists a telephone number to get safety planning information as well as access to life-saving legal and social services.

To donate, please bring new or gently used handbags, tote bags, or backpacks and leave them in the collection box in Dorroh Fellowship Hall anytime between now and April 21.  For more information, see Julie Ramsey.
Summer Reading Buddies Needed.
Come to our Open House and learn what it is all about!

Why learn about spiritual gifts?
Many believers want to actively pursue their roles of service in and through the local church.  God has always been uniting his people   around his purpose for the church: To glorify God and to edify others.
Church leaders are called to equip the saints for the work of ministry—a biblical concept that is easy to understand but difficult to implement. It is what we United Methodists call the work of “the priesthood of all believers.”
Each of us is unique, with different spiritual gifts, personal styles, and ministry passions. When using your spiritual gifts, you will serve more competently. When serving in ways that are consistent with your personal style and talents, you will serve with greater freedom. When you are serving in your area of ministry passion, you will serve more enthusiastically.
People know they should serve—they really want to serve. But they are not sure how to best serve because most of the time their efforts in service have not always resulted in pleasant experiences.
Finding your spiritual gifts will help you identify and express your unique contribution as an integral part of the body of Christ. You are needed in the church—not because there are slots to fill, but because in and through your ministry, God’s grace is released and his purposes are fulfilled.
Once you discover your role in the church, together we can create ministries that will cause the world to stop and say, “There must be a God; look at how those people love.” Pray that God will use your gifts so that his work might be done through this church.

This past week, our HTP Preschool Director resigned and Vanessa Foskey has step into the role of Interim Director while we look for a new Preschool Director.   The HTP staff is busy tending to all the wonderful children and families that we serve.   Registration for the new school year has begun and you can find information at www.heritagetreepreschool.com

Also, we are still in the process of searching and selecting a new Director of Music Ministries.   Please keep those important leadership roles in your prayers as we seek for God’s gifted servants.

Seeking: Honest Questions for Deeper Faith
Friends, join me on Wednesday nights for a time of food, fellowship and reflection.   Through the season of lent, we will ask the honest questions for deeper faith.   We will share in a simple soup meal at 6pm and then children will have a special lesson prepared for them as adults and youth have time to explore the questions in small table groups.
