PEMBA GATHERING - JOY IS NOT OPTIONAL!
Recently, our team in Pemba hosted a special three day gathering the entire staff — more than 350 people! The goal was to focus on values and mission of Iris Pemba and develop greater unity among the team. They spent time together worshiping, sharing the Word, and having lots of fun! And putting the “Joy is not Optional" core value into action, the staff was split into 15 teams for various games with the chance to win many prizes. It was beautiful to have a range of ages (from 18 to 65!) playing like children; enjoying treasure hunts, relay races, and more. This time together gave space to momentarily sets aside thoughts about the difficult times they are going through living in a war zone. An antidote to trauma is joy and joy was abundant during their gathering. There was laughter and a lot of rejoicing and as He does, God turned tears in celebrations. He turned sadness into joy!
