This Coming Sunday
St. Patrick's Welcomes Guest Musician

Peter Estabrook

Peter Estabrook

We are pleased to announce that on April 2nd, Palm Sunday, we will be welcoming guest musician, Peter Estabrook on the trumpet. Peter is the son of parishioner, Diana Estabrook, and is a well-known Bay Area artist and teacher.

He will join the choir on the morning's anthem All Glory Be To Thee On High and will join Doug Richardson for a performance of Stephen Adams' The Holy City.

Pete Estabrook holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Professional Music from Berklee College and a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Jazz Studies from California Institute of the Arts as well as an AmSAT Approved Teaching Certificate from the Northern California Center for the Alexander Technique.

In addition to teaching privately since 1983, he has taught Jazz courses, Applied Trumpet, and Music Fundamentals at Santa Rosa Junior College since 1996 and has served on the faculty at Sonoma State, Pacific Union College, and Napa Valley College. Pete has 7 album credits (to date) with Bay Area Artists in the Jazz, Pop, Folk, and Ethnic genres. His transcriptions of Miles Davis' solos have also been included with the 2006 and 2009 Concord Music Group re-releases of the classic Prestige Sessions, and his transcriptions of Ellington's Queen's Suite were performed by the Danish National Radio Orchestra in 1991.

Our Visit with Bishop Megan & Canon Julie
Left: Bishop Megan, Acolyte Dakota Borgfeldt, Canon Julie Wakeleee, and Priest in Charge, the Very Rev. Ed Howell. Dakota will be part of the delegation of youth from our diocese attending the Episcopal Youth Event in Baltimore this July. Right: Bishop Megan and Canon Julie were welcomed to a lovely coffee hour following worship.
Dear St. Patrick’s Family,

After meeting with Bishop Megan Traquair and Canon Julie Wakelee this past Sunday, March 26th, the Vestry is pleased to announce that we have reached a formal agreement with Father Ed to be our Priest-in-Charge. A  Letter of Agreement indicates that Father Ed will be working for St. Patrick’s parish during the coming year on a regular basis as he has been over the past several weeks. Unfortunately, Canon Mary is no longer able to be with us due to health issues, and we continue to pray for her to be well.
For those of you who may ask “When will a search committee be appointed to look for a new rector?” please understand that, as a parish in transition, we are not in a position to look for a new priest, but rather need to be most grateful to have the expertise and spiritual guidance of Father Ed during this time of change. We are so very blessed that having Father Ed with us as Priest-in-Charge will allow us to have the continuity and stability we need during this time of transition.
Thank you for your prayers for Father Ed, St. Patrick’s and the Vestry.

Jackie Senter, Senior Warden

Nomadic Shelter is Coming!

Nomadic Shelter, which is part of Redwood Gospel Mission, will return to St. Patrick’s on April 1, Saturday (April Fool’s Day!).  We have some volunteers already, but we could use a few more.  Please contact me if you’re interested in helping.  Some of the preparation may be done on Friday.
Our head cook is Margaret Merchat.  A few extra hands in the church kitchen never hurts.  We usually have fun while we’re doing the work.
We won’t know how many guests to expect until Wednesday, March 29.  It’s usually between 10 and 20 guests, 4 staff and the volunteers who share the meal.
If you haven’t volunteered at Nomadic Shelter before and are curious, please give me a call at (408)981-2024.  I’m happy to talk with you and answer your questions.  You can call me also to sign up to volunteer or send me an email at rjurny@gmail.com.

Pop-Up Food Distribution
Below is Eleanor's thankful recap of this week's food distribution. She also provided this exciting photo below! Back to Pre-COVID days! We are so thankful to have the food out so folks can walk up and receive their food.

Thank you to Kathleen, Erin, Beth, Lauri, Lynn/Chris, Mary, driver Tommy and rep Arturo.  56 households/199 individuals received food in St Pat's parking lot!

The new distribution plan is working very well!  Clients walk up, line up, register with Arturo, and volunteers accompany them to help them pick up food they will use.  Two other volunteers are behind the tables to refill.

Arturo says REFB will now focus more on fresh fruits and veggies.  The amount of canned and dried foods will be reduced.  Senior boxes and diapers will continue.

Hearing the "thank you's," seeing the smiles and loving concern makes it all so rewarding.  It's such a joy to make a positive difference in the life of families. Thank you, REFB and volunteers for making this possible!

April 10 is our next distribution.  Currently scheduled are Pam, Natalie/Olivia and Erin.  Two or three more are needed.  Can you help?

Thanks to those who helped close.  My cold and I went home at little early!  Some suggested hot tea and honey.  But, my thoughts were that bourbon and coke would be nice!

Eleanor

Blessings Bags

St. Patrick’s again showed its commitment to helping those in need in our community.  In March we donated 40 Blessing Bags, one of our largest in some time.
When we arrived at The Redwood Gospel Mission on 6th St. in Santa Rosa two men from the staff came out to lift all those heavy bags.  Thanks to all of you who have packed Blessing Bags!  Your effort has given 40 people meals when otherwise they would likely go hungry.
The next deadline for Blessing Bags is April 9, Easter Sunday, thesecond Sunday of the month.  You are welcome to drop them at our house any day before April 4. After that please leave them in the Narthex in the box provided.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (408)981-2024.  Betsy Randolph
