Maundy Thursday Service: Thursday 6 April at 7.30pm
"Jesus in the Passover"
Passover is the most important Jewish festival and Jesus would have celebrated it every year. It tells of God's redemptive love and power for his people; it reminds us of God's faithfulness in the past and his continuing faithfulness to us today. It's also very “visual” and the various symbols that are shown, eaten or drunk, are rich with meaning, recalling the escape of the Israelites from Egypt and also pointing to what Jesus has done for us all. We will explore how the symbols relate not only to the original story and also how they have fulfilment in their meaning through Yeshua (Jesus), giving us a deeper understanding of God's love, compassion and power.
If you’re not familiar with the story of Passover, and would like to read it in advance, it can be found in Exodus 1 vs 8-14, Exodus 1 vs 23-25, Exodus 6 vs 6-7a, and Exodus 12:1-14
