I am fully aware of this morning’s burglaries in Oakland Chinatown and I have been in touch with the merchants and OPD since this morning. In all, eight storefronts were broken into. Chinatown police commander, Captain Clay Burch , will hold a community meeting tomorrow at Oakland Asian Cultural Center and I encourage everyone to go.

We also held an emergency meeting to discuss how we can better support local businesses. Theses are trying times and we need to come up with better solutions to address the ongoing safety issues in our community. For the time being, we will set up a system linking business alarms to our mobile night patrol security team to ensure a quick and efficient response time.
For those who can’t make the meeting because of work, please join our monthly OCIC board meeting on Tuesday night (3/28) when Captain Burch will also join our meeting the same way officer Chang did last month. Zoom link will be provided to the public if they want to join us via Zoom instead of in person.
