Dear Friend,
April brings showers, flowers, and more outdoor activity including Earth Day. In Milwaukee, this means celebrating the Riverkeeper Annual Spring Cleanup.  But first, we have some celebrating of our own to do, in Hopkins Hollow..

Hopkins Hollow and Peace Post Dedication

Saturday, April 8th, 10 am
Hopkins Hollow Trail Head, 4410 N Hopkins

Hopkins Hollow Celebration and Peace Post DedicationJoin us in celebrating your work in Hopkins Hollow and help us dedicate the "Peace Posts" that now mark the southern trail entrance. The posts were created by Milwaukee Artist Muneer Bahauddeen as a community art project. They were funded by Milwaukee Water Commons as one of their Water School projects in 2022. In addition to marking the opening of the trail with a traditional libation and land acknowledgement, we'll reveal some of our exciting plans for 2023 that includes hopes to expand of our demonstration trail. THERE WILL BE CAKE! Please register at this link to help us plan.
Hopkins Hollow is part of MMSD’s 30th St. Corridor Flood Management Project that includes the future West Basin project.

Milwaukee Riverkeeper® Spring Clean-up on Lincoln Creek
Saturday, April 22nd, 9 am to Noon

Lincoln Creek Clean-upHelp us clean the Lincoln Creek Greenway on Earth Day 2023. In a joint effort by Public Allies, Water Justice Cohort and partners in the Milwaukee River Greenway Workgroup, we hope to significantly boost the number of volunteers along Lincoln Creek. Milwaukee Riverkeeper cares for Milwaukee’s rivers and sponsors the annual spring cleanup across Milwaukee! In the Lincoln Creek Greenway we have 11 clean up sites you can join.  Folks who register in advance can get a free T-shirt.

You can use this link to sign-up now: www.bit.ly/LincolnClean23

More information about the community outreach effort by Public Allies of Wisconsin can be found on our web page

Why we should clean the Creek?

  • Cleaning up trash keeps our waters healthy and fishable.
  • Trash and plastic break down and enter our drinking water.
  • Illegal dumping and loose trash attracts more trash and more dumping.
  • Trash degrades the pride people take in our neighborhoods.
  • Picking up trash provides an example for others to do likewise and helps our youth see that small actions make a difference.
