CERAMIC CACTI
IN HER OWN WORDS THERESA YONDO
''Finding the stillness in my mind opens a space to create an idea. This calming of the mind sets in motion the process to create with clay.
When I began making small sculptural objects, I did not yet have a clear idea where this would lead to, but I kept making. Eventually, garden installations began to appear as the work lay next to each other and I could not stop myself from making more. Nature is a palette of inspiration for endless possibilities of objects to be made of clay." - Theresa Yondo
CACTI IN KILN, READY FOR BISQUE FIRING
Still Point Gallery & Boutique is delighted to welcome Theresa Yondo to the gallery Saturday, April 1st from 12:00 – 4:00. Recently returned home to Novelty from an artist's residency with STARworks (the renowned clay and ceramics program in Star, NC), she will feature new items created there as well as in her Ohio studio. Perennially one of our most popular ceramic artists, we’ve carried Theresa's work for the last eight years. This, her first trunk show at the gallery, is an ideal time to meet the artist and discuss her broad line of sculptures as well as her hand-crafted utilitarian pieces such as mugs and plates.
Theresa received her M.F.A. from Kent State University in 1997 and has served as a faculty adjunct at a variety of colleges, art schools, community centers and retirement communities. Her work has been exhibited at the American Craft Council, the Ohio Craft Council, the Ohio Craft Museum and at venues in Chicago, Chautauqua NY and other locales.
We welcome Theresa, one of this regions great ceramic artists, and look forward to seeing those of you who already know and appreciate her art and those who will be enthralled to find it for the first time.
