We're getting towards the end of the season for Ethiopian Mokamba. This is a natural process light roast with notes of berries, chocolate, cocoa, and caramel.

LOCAL NEWS
  • The Bethel Fire Department is looking for building materials to assemble training props that will be beat up/cut-up by firefighters as they practice their skills.  They are not looking for high quality materials - we’re looking for those spare boards not good enough for an actual build, but still usable.  In particular we are looking for: 2x4 studs- 2x6 and 2x8 boards- 4x4 posts - Spare packs of shingles- Plywood and OSB (ideally 4x4 or 4x8 sheets)- Construction hardware (wood nails/screws, joist hangers, etc)- Can be pressure treated or not (these are not for burning).  Please do not bring materials to the fire department :  email bethelfd.info@gmail.com to let them know what you have.They are also looking for a 20’ shipping container that we want to build into a multi-purpose training prop.  Do you or someone you know have a shipping container that’s just taking up space?  Contact  if interested in donating.
  • Bus Fares Resume April 1st- Discounted passes available online from HART transit starting March 13th, at the Pulse Point or at the HART offices at 62 Federal Rd. DIGITAL PASSES for CTTransit buses. You can both purchases passes online for yourself to use on your smart phone OR send them to any phone number to purchase passes for others. More details.

  • New Milford Restaurant Week- through March 27th- special prices at New Milford restaurants
  •  2023 Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition- Thursday 6-8PM-The Gallery at the Visual and Performing Arts Center,  Westside Campus at 43 Lake Avenue Extension Danbury, CT.- An opening reception, co-sponsored by the Department of Art and the Alumni Association, will be held on Thursday, March 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition will run from March 23 through April 6. The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public. The gallery will be open for viewing from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and on Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. The Master of Fine Arts is the terminal degree for practicing professional artists. The MFA Thesis Exhibition is the capstone experience of the graduate program, demonstrating a personal direction and mastery in the work of the artists. Four graduate students will present their thesis work this year: Dan Baker- MFA Interdisciplinary Visual Art, Marcus Escribano- MFA Interdisciplinary Visual Art, Lilah Heyman- MFA Painting, and Aimee Jette- MFA Interdisciplinary Visual Art.

  • Brookfield Film Festival: Short & To the Point- Friday & Saturday- Brookfield Theatre for the Arts- 184 Whisconier Rd- This annual event features Oscar nominated and other award winning films. Proceeds fund scholarships for high school seniors from Brookfield who are pursuing a degree in the Arts.   • Paws In The Park Fundraiser- Saturday 10AM-3PM- Bethel Municipal Center- General Purpose Room- Supporters of the Bethel Bark Park, are holding a fundraiser to help support improvements to the dog park.  Two rescue organizations, the Bethel K-9 unit, Girl Scouts will have a dog toy craft and many awesome vendors for all your dog needs!
  • Bethel Winter Guard Friends & Family Night- Saturday 5-8PM Bethel High School Gym- See the Winter Guard perform and order some food while you watch! Plus raffles items. Cash only for raffle items, food can be paid for via Venmo but cash is preferred.
  • Summer Camp Fair- Sunday 12-6PM Danbury Fair Mall, 7 Backus Ave.- Showcase os 2023 summer camps, programs and activities offered by businesses and organizations in the Greater Danbury area. A great opportunity to meet program directors, ask questions and get a feel for what camp activities will be like. Plus, the kids will have fun too with interactive activities, dance and music performances, giveaways from 98Q PLUS a chance to WIN a FREE week of Camp with Macaronni Kid! Event will take place on the Lower Level between Center Court (where the Easter Bunny will be!) and JCPenney.
  • American Soundscapes with the Danbury Symphony Orchestra- Sunday 3-5PM-Visual and Performing Arts Center,  Westside Campus at 43 Lake Avenue Extension Danbury, CT- The Danbury Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Ariel Rudiakov, will perform a concert of of American composers. Music will include William Grant Still’s Poem for Orchestra , Ferde Grofé: Grand Canyon Suite, Scott Joplin, Bethena and the world premiere of local composer, Thomas Caprino’s, Rhapsody No.1 for Orchestra, The DSO will be joined by pianist Will Duchon for George Gershwin’s most famous work, Rhapsody in Blue. Admission is free but donations are gratefully accepted at the door.

  • Macricostas Greek Celebration- Tuesday 5-8PM WCSU’s Higgins Hall Lobby, Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. FREE but Advance registration is required by Friday, March 24 At this celebration, Macricostas School of Arts & Sciences Dean Michelle Brown will share how WCSU students have immersed themselves in Greek culture by studying its art, cinema and ancient artifacts. Participants will share these experiences by tasting Greek food and enjoying dancing and music provided by the Athenian Entertainment Greek Orchestra.  Prior to the Macricostas Greek Celebration, the public is invited to attend a special Greek lecture, “Cinderella Goes to Class: Folktales as a Tool of Teaching Culture,” presented by Maria Kaliambou, a Senior Lector for the Hellenic Studies Program at Yale University. Focusing on the Greek version of Cinderella from the beginning of the 20th century, this lecture will highlight the striking differences of the Greek version as they pertain to Greek culture and society. The lecture will also examine how folktales offer an alternative approach to learn and teach a foreign language and its culture. This lecture begins at 4:30 p.m. in WCSU’s White Hall, Room 127, Midtown campus. Registration for the lecture only is not required.
