Hello, U.P. food systems partners and friends!

We are excited to see you on Monday, March 27, at the Northern Center at NMU for the U.P. Food Summit!

The Food Summit Steering Committee would like to share a few important event details and logistics so you can know what to expect on Monday.

Where can I find the agenda?
Check out the U.P. Food Exchange website for the current agenda.

What time does the event start?
Check-in will begin at 9:00 am ET. The conference begins at 10:00 am.

Where exactly is this taking place? 1401 Presque Isle Ave. is the campus address and putting it into my GPS won't take me directly to the Northern Center building.
The Northern Center is located at 46.556156, -87.399723. There are two entrances to the parking lot for the Northern Center: one on Kaye Ave. and another on Lee Drive. Please park in this lot only. The building entrance is directly West of the parking lot. See the map below if you need further information.

Once you're in the building, take the elevator to the left, or the stairs to the right to the second floor. Once you do, you will be in view of the event registration table.

What's the food situation?
There will be no breakfast provided, but delicious snacks will be plentiful along with coffee, tea, and water throughout the day. Lunch will be served at noon, and it's sure to impress, because after all, this is a food summit! Dietary selections were provided at the time of registration, but if that was missed for some reason, please let event staff know early on in the day.

Does NMU Have a COVID-19 Policy?
Masks are not required; however; NMU has a policy for indoor mask use and offers some recommendations. https://nmu.edu/safe-on-campus/current-pandemic-protocols

KN95, KF94 or N95 masks continue to be required in all classrooms and labs, but are no longer required in other indoor areas on NMU’s campus.  Full details found here.

Masks are strongly recommended for individuals with compromised immune systems or who interact with family members with compromised immune systems or are at high risks for COVID.

NMU students, faculty and staff must be prepared to revert back to required mask wearing throughout campus should COVID positive cases on campus or in the community increase significantly.

All individuals who feel more comfortable wearing masks anywhere on campus are encouraged to do so. NMU will not tolerate actions by individuals to discourage mask wearing on campus.

What should one do if there is a campus emergency?
Northern Center staff are trained to be your guides should any kind of emergency situation arise. For further reading, please visit: https://nmu.edu/policedepartment/emergency-guidelines-and-safety-protocols

Looking forward to seeing you -- let us know if you have any questions. We've got one for you -- why did the bee get a telephone?

To cauliflower.

Have a great day!
