Spring Break COVID Testing Message
Students and staff wishing to test before returning to school should take a test on Sunday, April 2, and Wednesday, April 5. For information on what to do if you test positive, please visit our website. Thank you for all that you do to support healthy school communities!

Prom 2023 - April 15th
Ticket sales:
April 3-7: $100 per person
April 10-14: $120 per person

Ticket sales will be online through GoFan. You will use your student ID number to purchase your ticket.
Cash only sales at lunch at the Student Government window on Wednesdays and Fridays: April 5 & 7 and 12 & 14

Clearance Passes:
Online and available on Monday, March 13.
Please allow a 48 hour turn around for approval.

Guest Passes:
The form will be posted online and available on Monday, March 13.
The deadline to turn in guest pass requests is Wednesday, April 5 at 10am.
No passes will be accepted after this time and date.
Please allow 2 school days to be approved. Saturdays and Sundays are not school days.
After approval, SMUHSD students will use their ID number to purchase their ticket; NON-SMUHSD students will be given a special code to enter in order to purchase a ticket.

Financial Need:
San Mateo students who need financial assistance with the purchase of their PROM ticket must complete this form:https://www.smuhsd.org/Page/14135. When approved, you will get an email from Ms. Shiu. Please be sure to check your CANVAS email.

Pride Prom
Celebrate the 1st Annual Pride Prom, an inclusive, safe, welcoming, night to remember for 9th-12th grade students who attend high school in San Mateo County. This FREE event will celebrate and uplift LGBTQ young people and advocate for the sustained and continued efforts in our County to build places where youth are seen and supported in environments free from hate and discrimination.

When: Friday April 14, 2023 from 6:30-10 p.m.

Message from Coach John
The Boys Tennis Team remains undefeated in the Bay Division at 6-0 after besting a tough Menlo-Atherton team 5-2. #1 Nicholas Throgmorton followed a tough first set with unbelievable extreme winners and a willingness to run down every ball to easily win the second set 7-5, 6-2. Making a heart attack dramatic comeback 3-6, 6-4, 10-6, Nikko Apikelis out-dueled his opponent at #2. Despite feeling sick, Kaden Chang weathered the cold and elevated his overheads to D1 level with a 3-6, 6-3, 10-3 at #3. Dylan Chua was the first off the courts with a 6-4, 6-2 victory effectively utilizing his all around game such as drop shots, lobs, passing shots and fewer errors at #4. Complementing each other’s strengths, #3 doubles dynamic duo of Paolo Toledo and Ryan Tseng won 7-5, 6-0 to remain undefeated this season at 9-0. Go Bearcats!

Message from Ms. Reggie (Cafeteria)
The cafeteria is seeking Freshmen, Sophomore and Junior student workers for this year and next school year. Please check with the health office to see if you have a TB test on file, and then come to the cafeteria to pick up an application. You will need to have a Social Security card in order to get paid. Below you'll find upcoming events for our community college bound students to help with applications and getting set up for college for next year
CSM PEP Day – On April 11th from 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. we’ll be hosting CSM for a Priority Enrollment event. Students who have already applied for CSM are encouraged to attend as the CSM team will be taking you through orientation, transcript assessment, getting you scheduled for a meeting with your CSM counselor, and you’ll get a priority date for enrolling for your classes. Students will not be missing class that date as it is a late start for seniors due to junior CAASPP testing. Climate Video Challenge for middle and high school students
Enter any time this school year, through May 31, 2023. Students are invited to submit a 3-minute video responding to the question, “What is your vision for a thriving future?” Contest instructions and rules, brainstorming prompts, and lots of information on climate change and climate solutions can be found at https://www.coastal.ca.gov/climatechallenge. Students can enter as individuals or in teams of up to five. Prizes are offered for first ($300), second ($200), and third ($100) place videos.

Attendance
When you have been excused to arrive late to school, you need to report to the attendance office before going to your class. Make sure to provide a doctor's note if you attend a medical appointment.

If you are leaving early you MUST PICK UP your permit to leave before leaving campus. If you do not have it with you when leaving, your attendance will be changed to a CUT .

ID Cards for Library Services
Barcode printouts will no longer be available for students who forget their ID cards. ID cards are needed for Chromebook loaners, loaner chargers, and attending the Bearcat Den after school. Students will not be able to borrow Chromebooks Loaners or attend the Bearcat Den without their student ID card.

DISTRICT ISSUED DEVICES
Students must bring their charged chromebook to school on a daily basis. While on campus, students are to use their school issued device and leave personal devices at home.
Some of the reasons why:

Students are responsible for these school issued devices and will be charged for any damages to their Chromebook

Baile de Orgullo
Celebra el primer baile anual de graduación del Orgullo, una noche inclusiva, segura y acogedora para celebrar a los alumnos de noveno a duodécimo grado que asisten a la escuela secundaria en el condado de San Mateo.
