Suspected cases of Avian Flu found in Geese locally
Municipalities across the country, including here in Newmarket are seeing a rise in suspected cases of avian flu, particularly in geese. Follow these tips to keep you and your pet safe:

• Consider removing backyard feeders and or bird baths.

• Keep cats indoors and dogs on a leash. This will reduce the chance of your pet encountering an infected bird.

• Do not touch or feed wildlife or try to rescue birds in distress.

If you find wildlife that is sick, injured or in distress, report it to the Town’s Animal Services by calling 905-895-5193 (press 3 if after hours) or by email at info@newmarket.ca
