AUDITION RESULTS


There has been a lot of hard work on the part of our students over the past few months to continue their growth and development as musicians. Please remember that while some students will be very excited with the results, others may be disappointed, so please be mindful of how you share the good news and how it may impact others. How you word things makes all the different!

We have posted a few openings in all the bands rosters. In Concert Band, there is an opening for a Tenor Saxophone player. Any currently listed concert band saxophone player can switch to tenor and help us fill an important role in that ensemble that we're currently missing. That opening is available to the first person that wants to claim it, and you will need to supply your own neck strap, mouthpiece, ligature, and reeds. 

Openings in Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble may be filled by students who would like to move up a band. Any student who wants to fill an opening must meet with Mr. Vanderwall and/or Mrs. Clemons to review their first audition and identify the necessary area(s) for improvement so that they have direction on what and how to practice for a successful second submission. 

The window for second submissions will open on Friday, May 5th and close on Friday, May 12th. At that point we will review any new audition submissions and inform students of our decisions. This will provide everyone with the same opportunity to practice and grow as musicians without worrying about the "first come first served" concept and rushing their work to "get the spot".

SPRING MULCH SALE


 
Make your plans NOW to support the PCHS Band Program with your spring mulch purchase! We'll be running a fundraiser with Shreve Services starting May 1 running through May 19 where they will donate a portion of your purchase to the band program. Band member mulch installation will also be available for an additional fee that can be scheduled separately. 
More information is coming soon. Please share this with your neighbors since many people make an annual mulch purchase of some kind! It's a great way to help the band without SELLING anything!

Monday, March 27, 6:30 PM - Auditorium - Marching Band Info Night
This is a required meeting for all students and parents who will be in band next year. We will provide a calendar including all rehearsals, competitions, discuss the fee structure and fundraising needs along with an unveiling of next year's marching band show!

Wednesday, March 29, 6:30 PM 
Jazz 1 Opens for the Brass Tracks Jazz Orchestra

North & Maple Kitchen, Tinley Park - 18401 N Creek Dr, Tinley Park, IL 60477
Couldn't join us for Jazz Band Dinner Dance? This event is open to all, no ticket price, just come have dinner and enjoy the music!
Transportation is NOT provided for students and they will need rides to and from Tinley Park. Student performers should arrive at 6:00 PM. 
The restaurant recommends reservations but also accepts walk-ins. You can reserve your table by calling them at (708) 468-8181. They do not have an online reservation platform and are by phone only. Dress for students is concert black just like the dinner dance.

Come support 202IP in their final home performance of the season before heading off to WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio!

Tuesday, April 25, 6:30-9:00 PM - Spaghetti Dinner
Support the band program by coming to eat dinner and getting some LIVE entertainment from the PCHS, ITMS, and TRMS jazz bands!

Thursday, May 4, 6:30 PM - May Band Concert
Concert for all band students. Student arrival time will be 5:30 PM, attire is concert black. Doors to the Auditorium will open at 6:00 PM. 

Saturday, May 6, 6:30 PM - Drumapalooza!
Join us for an amazing night celebrating all things percussion! There will be performances from PCHS, TRMS, ITMS, JFK MS, and we'll also be featuring the Chicagoland Percussion Ensemble (adult professional percussionists and mostly 202 percussion staff!). Silent Auctions and Raffles will also be available that night, and tickets are available online at https://pchsband.org/product/drumapalooza-2023/

Seniors, it's your FIRST opportunity to be an alumnus of the PCHS Band Program! Mr. Valkema, Mr. Casagrande, and Mr. Vanderwall will all be conducting a band of alumni from recent grads all the way back to people who graduated in the early 1990's!
