TEXAS MEDICAL CENTER ELECTRIC HAMMERING AND CUTTING
When a hospital in the Texas Medical Center needed to redesign the area for their linear accelerator, and it's existing steel base frame that was encased in 12" thick concrete, they turned to ATI for a solution.

The only access was a 3' x 7' doorway, hand-held jackhammers can be inefficient and unsafe, and the team couldn't operate any equipment that gave off fumes.

The solution from ATI was our electric saw and electric Brokk robotic hammer, which removed the concrete and base frame in a safe manner. The team completed the job so quickly that the client was surprised they had already come and gone!

PILE CUTTING - CORE DRILLING - WALL SAWING -  ROBOTIC BREAKING: PORT LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA
The Berth 2 and 3 improvement projects at the Port of Lake Charles (the busiest LNG export terminal in the world) ran into issues when the new piles met refusal and would not go any deeper. Continually hammering a pile to the correct depth compromises the integrity of the concrete, so they must be cut down to size.

One new issue from the cut piles was the connection holes set when the piles were cast were now gone. ATI’s Core Drilling expertise was used to re-core the cut piles so they could accept their uplift connectors.

Brokk robotic hammers and horizontal wall saws were also used to remove some of the existing structure.

LUNCH AND LEARN - HYDRODEMOLITION

The process, application, and technology of HydroDemolition

Who? Over 1,000 engineers & contractors have participated in this informative session from Belin Wills, a certified teacher with Aggregate Technologies. Aggregate Technologies is a specialty subcontractor that has been cutting and removing concrete via all methods for over 25 years.

What?  A No-Cost Lunch & Learn for you and your team.

Where?  At your office in-person or virtual, via Teams or Zoom.

When?  Your schedule is king, but we usually present on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

WHY?  This NO-COST class will give you a game-changing understanding of a more advanced method for removing concrete.  This class will also help to explain WHEN and WHEN NOT to utilize this method for concrete removal or resurfacing projects.  Get one on one time with an estimator so you can ask direct questions.  After the class Aggregate Technologies will also provide you with correlating documents, plans and drawings that will be an excellent resource when considering this method. Engineers in attendance will earn 1 PDH.

Email Belin Wills at Belin@aggregatetechnologies.com  to schedule one for you and your team or provide additional information!

Asking ChatGPT about Hydrodemolition...
Q: How is Hydrodemolition like sliced bread?

A: Hydrodemolition and sliced bread may not seem like they have much in common, but there is one key similarity: they both revolutionized their respective fields.

Sliced bread was invented in 1928 by Otto Frederick Rohwedder, and it quickly became popular because it was convenient and saved time. Before sliced bread, people had to slice their own bread, which was time-consuming and sometimes resulted in uneven slices. Sliced bread made it easier for people to prepare sandwiches and toast, and it soon became a staple in households around the world.

Hydrodemolition, on the other hand, was first used in the 1970s as a way to remove damaged or deteriorated concrete from bridges and other structures. Before hydrodemolition, the most common method for removing concrete was to use jackhammers, which were slow and labor-intensive. Hydrodemolition uses high-pressure water jets to remove concrete quickly and efficiently, and it has become the preferred method for concrete removal in many applications.

So, while hydrodemolition and sliced bread may seem like an odd pairing, they both represent innovations that made life easier and more efficient for people in their respective fields..
