Applications Open For Harbor Freight Tools For Schools Travel Scholarships
In partnership with Harbor Freight Tools for Schools, SkillsUSA is proud to announce a travel scholarship opportunity for SkillsUSA high school members in selected trades who are competing in the 2023 SkillsUSA Championships. Eligible members can apply to receive up to $1,500 to assist in attending the 2023 National Leadership & Skills Conference (NLSC). Applications will be accepted through May 22. Recipients will be announced on May 25.
Teachers: Apply For the Harbor Freight Tools For Schools Prize for Teacher Excellence
The prize recognizes outstanding instruction in the skilled trades in U.S. public high schools and the teachers who inspire students to learn skills to prepare for life after graduation. In 2023, Harbor Freight will award more than $1.5 million in cash prizes to 25 skilled trades teachers and their programs. In 2022, the prize recognized 12 SkillsUSA instructors as winners. Applications must be received by May 5. Winners will be announced in October.
Focus Students on Safety: CareerSafe National Youth Safety Video Contest
The CareerSafe National Youth Safety Video Contest challenges students to create a two-minute video demonstrating workplace safety. Send submissions to CareerSafe by April 30. The winning students will receive a SkillsUSA prize pack and a scholarship of up to $2,500, and the winning school will receive a prize of up to $5,000. Plan Now For National Signing Day
On May 4, SkillsUSA National Signing Day will celebrate high school seniors and college/postsecondary students who have chosen to pursue careers as professionals in the skilled trades.
SkillsUSA chapters are encouraged to host a Signing Day event and invite business partners, school administrators, teachers, elected officials, SkillsUSA alumni, family and friends to honor their graduating seniors as they sign “letters of intent” for a job offer, apprenticeship or advanced technical training. Early bird registration runs through April 3. Registration closes April 21.
National Signing Day application-based opportunities
Signing Day supply bundles valued at $500 will be awarded to 10 schools (schools must register five or more students and complete the supply bundle application by April 3 to be eligible).
Signing Day school grants of $250 will be awarded to 50 schools to enhance their event (schools must register five or more students to be eligible).
Chapter opportunities
The first 50 chapters that register five or more students by April 3 will receive a Signing Day Welcome package with a poster, a vinyl NSD podium sign and 35 Signing Day certificates with sleeves.
The first ten schools that register five or more students by April 3 will receive a large step-and-repeat banner and a tablecloth with the SkillsUSA logo, the Signing Day logo and the school’s name.
Early registrant opportunities
First 500 registrants receive Signing Day baseball caps.
First 250 advisors who register five or more students receive a $50 Lowe’s gift card.
Registrants will receive Signing Day table runners (while supplies last).

SkillsUSA Technical Fridays Workshops
Join us for “SkillsUSA Technical Fridays,” a series of virtual workshops led by industry experts to help teachers develop specific technical skills relevant to their career fields. Leave the sessions with new knowledge and skills to implement in the classroom. On March 31, from 4-5 p.m. ET, Pitsco Education will lead a workshop on utilizing TETRIX® robotics solutions to introduce students to manufacturing, automation and engineering design. Attendees will get a primer on the manufacturing industry, designing solutions and how to utilize robots to simulate warehouse tasks such as navigating, lifting and sorting. SkillsUSA Scholarship Opportunities
SkillsUSA students can now apply for multiple scholarships by completing just one SkillsUSA scholarship application!
The SkillsUSA master scholarship application is open until April 1 and is available here.
Most scholarships are available to both high school and college/postsecondary members. Eligibility criteria for each scholarship is noted on the application so that students know which ones they are eligible to receive. The following scholarships are included under this application:
