Postdoc Orientation March 29th - Learn About Resources, Benefits, and the UF Postdoc Association

Postdoc Orientation is offered the last Wednesday of every month via Zoom and is here to help you make the most of your postdoc experience at UF. You do not have to be a new postdoc to join an orientation session. Everyone is welcome!
The next session is March 29th, 2:30-4:30pm ET

Objectives of Orientation:
  • Become familiar with resources available to you across campus
  • Learn about policies relevant to postdocs
  • Learn about your UF benefits & meet with UF benefits counselors
  • Begin drafting or refine your professional development plan
  • Meet fellow postdocs and the UF Postdoc Association

Postdoc Association Social at Depot Park - March 30th

UFPDA is organizing a social gathering at Depot Park near Humblewood Fire Pizza Trailer (127 SE Depot Ave) on Thursday, March 30th starting at 6:00pm.
 
It's the perfect opportunity to unwind, plan for the weekend, and meet new postdocs or catch up with friends. Depot Park (and UFPDA) is pet and family friendly, so feel free to bring them along.
 
Look out for the UFPDA Banner. If you have trouble finding the group or need directions, please reach out on the Florida Postdoc Socials WhatsApp group.

Language Exchange with SACNAS - March 31st at Depot Park

Speaking different languages is a valuable skill, but learning other languages is difficult. Getting better at it comes down to practice, practice, and more practice. So, let’s practice! Join the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) next FRIDAY, March 31st at Depot Park from 6:00 – 9:00 pm for a LANGUAGE EXCHANGE.  

Whether you are learning a new language, need some practice, or want to help others get better, you are welcome to come to a safe space to chat, play board games, and have some snacks in a multilingual environment.  Families and friends are welcome! The more the merrier! Contact sacnasfl@gmail.com

City of Gainesville Invites Applications for 'One Nation One Project' - Due April 30th

One Nation One Project (ONOP) is a national initiative, and Gainesville and eight other U.S. cities have been selected to take part. The goal of One Nation One Project is to use the creative potential of arts and culture in Gainesville to promote community healing and well-being in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The City of Gainesville welcomes project proposals up to $5,000 that serve both of the following purposes: 
  • Support youth engagement in arts and cultural programs and events. 
  • Promote well-being and reduce youth gun violence. 
The application will close at 11:59 p.m. on April 30. For more information, please visit the One Nation One Project GNV page on the city website.

Nick Paciaroni is an expert in DNA-encoded library (DEL) synthesis and design, with a diverse background in synthetic organic and medicinal chemistry. At Deluge, he focuses on developing new DNA-compatible chemistries and designing custom DELs. He received his B.S. in Chemistry from Clemson University and earned his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a concentration in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Florida.
