How to succeed in obtaining research funding – tips for public health researchers

Applying for funding as an Early Career Researcher can be a complex and challenging process. This practical seminar aims to provide insights and advice to help public health researchers navigate the options. The seminar will feature speakers from the Research Design Service at the NIHR (the UK’s largest funder of health and care research) and the Research Operations Office’s at the University of Cambridge, as well as a senior researcher who will share his personal experience of applying for funding.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) Research Sandpit
10th May 2023, Robinson College.
The aim of the Sandpit is to bring ECRs from the Schools of Clinical Medicine, Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Technology, and Humanities and Social Sciences to develop new cross-disciplinary research proposals aimed at tackling an important aspect of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). After the event, participants will have some time to develop the proposals. The best proposal will receive a pump-priming award to carry on the project. This year’s focus will be on novel therapeutics and diagnostic methods.,

Award Lectureships for Early Career Academics (close 23 January)
These Award Lectures aim to promote open and informed discussion of science and related disciplines. The selected lecturers receive an all-expenses paid trip to the festival where they will present their lecture, as well as public speaking coaching and a £250 honorarium. Awards are available in seven different areas: Social sciences; Engineering, technology and industry; Environmental sciences; Agricultural, biological and medical sciences; Physical sciences and mathematics; Digital innovation; Science and the arts.
