Designing the Next Generation of Bioengineered Tools for Health and Wellbeing

The EngBio IRC has launched its new project “Applying Open Tools & Resources: towards Accelerating Eng Bio Innovation in the Cambridge Cluster”. The project responds to a key challenge of informing the biotech community about existing open resources and seeding intersectoral collaborations to develop them further.

How to succeed in obtaining research funding – tips for public health researchers

Applying for funding as an Early Career Researcher can be a complex and challenging process. This practical seminar aims to provide insights and advice to help public health researchers navigate the options. The seminar will feature speakers from the Research Design Service at the NIHR (the UK’s largest funder of health and care research) and the Research Operations Office’s at the University of Cambridge, as well as a senior researcher who will share his personal experience of applying for funding.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) Research Sandpit
10th May 2023, Robinson College.
The aim of the Sandpit is to bring ECRs from the Schools of Clinical Medicine, Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Technology, and Humanities and Social Sciences to develop new cross-disciplinary research proposals aimed at tackling an important aspect of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). After the event, participants will have some time to develop the proposals. The best proposal will receive a pump-priming award to carry on the project. This year’s focus will be on novel therapeutics and diagnostic methods.,

AESIS Societal Impact Webinar Series

Evolving Molecular Bioscience Education

Milner Therapeutics Symposium - 5 July

Registration is now open for the Milner Therapeutics Symposium! The Symposium will take place on Wednesday 5th July, and the physical venue is West Road Concert Hall in Cambridge. This event is an opportunity for scientists from academia and industry to discuss the latest academic and pre-clinical research, and how it could be applied in the pharma and biotech industry to develop new treatments.  
 
6th Cambridge International Conference on Machine Learning and AI in (Bio)Chemical Engineering

The conference will be held in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology. Abstract admissions open now. Machine Learning and AI in Bio(Chemical) Engineering Conference series is co-organised by research groups of the Universities of Cambridge, Leeds, Glasgow, Southampton, and University College London. This series of conferences grew from two collaborative research projects on robotics and automation in chemical development. The conference will feature lectures from global champions of research in ML/AI in chemistry/(bio)chemical engineering

Award Lectureships for Early Career Academics (close 23 January)

These Award Lectures aim to promote open and informed discussion of science and related disciplines. The selected lecturers receive an all-expenses paid trip to the festival where they will present their lecture, as well as public speaking coaching and a £250 honorarium. Awards are available in seven different areas: Social sciences; Engineering, technology and industry; Environmental sciences; Agricultural, biological and medical sciences; Physical sciences and mathematics; Digital innovation; Science and the arts.
