AAFA has released the 2023 Allergy Capitals report. This report lists the top 100 most challenging cities to live in with seasonal allergies. Wichita, Kansas, is the #1 Allergy Capital for 2023.

That's not all our report includes. AAFAʼs annual report raises awareness of the burden of seasonal allergies on people and their communities. This year's report also has information on:

✔️Self-care steps for people with allergic rhinitis
✔️Impacts of climate change and urban heat islands
✔️The importance of pollen sensors

Read the report to see where your city ranks.

What Does the Albuterol Shortage Mean for People with Asthma?

Recent news of an albuterol shortage may be concerning for people with asthma. It's important to understand that this albuterol shortage only applies to the liquid medicine, not albuterol inhalers. This shortage is primarily impacting hospitals and outpatient clinics using nebulized albuterol. AAFA is continuing to monitor this situation and will provide updates as we learn more. Read more about the shortage.

Asthma's Impact on Relationships

A recent survey conducted by AAFA and Amgen confirms that asthma impacts personal and professional relationships.

  • 56% of people with asthma said they do not share their asthma status if they don’t have to.

  • Four out of five people with asthma say their family and friends are not very involved in their asthma management.

  • Nearly half (47%) of people with asthma feel that friends, family, and significant others don’t consider their condition when planning social gatherings.

Read what else we learned from the survey results and learn ways to open and improve communication with friends, family, and coworkers about your asthma
