Looking to give back ... My name is Jonathan, and I live in Central Auckland. I am looking to give a few hours of my time a month to the board of a charity to provide governance support. I have experience in commercial, retail, infrastructure and residential projects with end-book valuations of over 700 million dollars. These projects span the public, private and NGO sectors. I also have an in-depth understanding of finance and have done my master's thesis on alternative funding models for social and affordable housing. In my private capacity, I have completed numerous projects on multiple properties and have recently finished a small build-to-rent subdivision.
I have a diverse skill set of financial modelling, full life-cycle development management, and project governance. I look forward to the possibility of giving back to the community.

Looking for Help ... My name is Isobel Steane and I have been a part of Surf Life Saving New Zealand since I was 5 years old, and got my lifeguard award in 2018 when I was 14 years old. I started doing volunteer patrols for the Whakatane surf club when I was a rookie lifeguard and have been volunteering for the past 6 years. During the summer season I spend my time on the beach looking after the members of the public, ensuring they are safe. In my role as a lifeguard I also experienced guarding at Thornton beach, Ohope top 10 and Ōpōtiki this season. I have also done voluntary coaching where I was a surf club coach for children aged 5-14. This involved me educating students from primary and intermediate schools about water and beach safety to help keep them safe on the beach.
I am hoping to raise funds to help me go to Camp America for their summer to further my experience and improve my lifeguarding skills. I aim to better myself so I can bring these skills back to New Zealand. Camp america will involve me being on a 8-10 week camp, helping children stay safe in the water. I am going through the organisation ‘International working holidays’ . The experience will cost approximately $4500 to cover flights, camp america fees, visa, international accident and sickness coverage, medical forms and insurance. I would be extremely grateful if you could help me out in any way with these fees.
                     Thank you so much

You are invited to talk to the DIA Charities Services team and get answers to the questions you have about being a registered charity. A range of appointments are available depending on what questions you need answered. Appointments are available with Charities Services staff to discuss advice on your rules, advice on changing your purposes or activities, financial reporting, and governance.

There are appointments available every Thursday. Register for one appointment, or multiple, depending on the help you need.

Once you have booked an appointment, Charities Services will be in contact to organise a Zoom or phone call appointment for the time and date that you have booked. To find out more and to sign up for a clinic, click here.
