Easter Party!

Get ready for an egg-citing Easter celebration with the 2023 TteS Community Easter Party!

This fun-filled event is open to all community members and promises to be a day of laughter and joy. Kids will love the entertainment provided by Uncle Chris The Clown, while the bouncy houses and games will keep them energized and engaged. And when it's time to refuel, enjoy a delicious dinner of hot dogs and hamburgers.

Tax Laws Meeting

Please join us for the Community Tax Laws Information Meeting hosted by the Lands, Leasing, & Tax Department. This meeting aims to provide information on the proposed 2023 TteS Property Tax and TteS Property Assessment Laws during the representation period. Don't forget, written representations can be sent to the tax team until April 17, 2023.

Coffee with a Cop

Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc Chief and Council regularly collaborate with the local RCMP to exchange information and ensure the safety of our community. We would encourage members to attend the monthly “Coffee with the Cop” on April 5th or May 3rd at 10am at MSG if you would like to speak to the RCMP officers directly about any concerns that you might have.

Open House

TteS Business and Economic Development is hosting an Open House on April 5, from 3pm – 6pm at MSG. Meet the Business and Economic team and learn about projects happening in your community and new job opportunities that are available. Food and Refreshments will be served, door prizes to be drawn.

Graveyard Clean-up

Mark your calendars! On April 6th, 2023, we will be hosting our Annual Graveyard Clean-up at the Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc Cemetery.

Everyone is welcome to join us in keeping our cemetery clean and beautiful. Please bring your own tools such as rakes, shovels, gloves, and anything else you might need. If you have any inquiries, please feel free to contact the Community Services Admin. at (250) 828-9810 or Aurora Casimir at (250) 320-0853 / aurora.casimir@ttes.ca.

The clean-up will start at 9 am and we expect to finish around 3 pm. We will be providing lunch at St. Joseph's Church for all volunteers. TteS Employees, please make sure to get permission from your Manager before attending. Let's work together to keep our cemetery beautiful!

Mobile Mammogram bus

Early detection saves lives! The Mobile Mammogram bus will be at Q’wemtsin Health Society on April 11. If you would like to book an appointment please call Q’wemtsin Health Society at 250.314.6732. To register you must be age 40+

Elders Input Needed!

The Thompson-Nicola Conservation Collaborative invites Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc Elders to join them by participating in and providing input on critical areas used within the Thompson Nicola region. By adding your knowledge of current and past land use and occupation on physical maps, they will identify important Indigenous use areas and their overlap with areas of high carbon storage within the Thompson Nicola region, supporting increased land conservation and protection.

Tax Prep

2022 Tax Preparation will be held on Saturday, April 8 and Saturday April 15 at Moccasin Square Garden (MSG). Please bring all necessary documentation to file. Band Member spouses subject to $25.00 fee. Staff and Staff spouses subject to $66.00 fee. Need Paper Copies?

To minimize our ecological footprint, we will only be sending hard copies of our GBM minutes, presentations, annual reports, etc. to band members who register to receive them. To request paper copies be mailed to you, please use the link below to fill out the form. As usual, digital copies will still be sent via email and accessible for download in the members-only section of our website.

Please be aware that you will only need to complete the HARD COPY sign-up process once. Once you have signed up, you will receive them via mail until you decide to cancel.

Elders Luncheon

Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc is excited to announce the upcoming Elders Luncheon, taking place on Friday, April 14th, 2023, from 12 pm to 1 pm at Moccasin Square Gardens. Hosted by Community Services, this luncheon is an opportunity for Elders to come together, socialize, and enjoy a delicious meal with friends.

The event will be an occasion to celebrate the April elder birthdays, share a meal, and take home some goodies. The TteS Elders Seed Allowance cheques will also be distributed during the luncheon. For any inquiries or transportation needs, please contact Elder Recreation Worker, Aurora Casimir, at (250) 320-0853 or via email at aurora.casimir@ttes.ca.

As the saying goes, "The only thing better than lunch is lunch with friends," and we look forward to sharing this special event with our beloved elders. Let us come together to show our appreciation for the contributions they have made to our community and honour their wisdom and experience.

Voices from the River

The second volume of Voices from the River is open for submissions! Voices from the River is an accessible publication of stories, research papers, poetry, and art that elevate Indigenous perspectives in our understanding of the Columbia River system region. The theme for Vol II “The Legacy of Dams and the Return of the Salmon” and the Lead Editor is Dr. David Lewis (Grand Ronde).

Hunting Engagement Session

Attention all hunters and community members! Join us for the Secwépemc Nation Hunting Engagement Session #3 on Monday, April 3, 2023 at 5:00 pm. This session will be held virtually over Zoom, and we invite you to join us to discuss the hunting priorities that we need to focus on today to leave a better future for our children and grandchildren.

CLC Master Plan

The Chief Louis Centre Master Plan update is underway. It has been over 10 years since the current Master Plan and Design Controls were created and endorsed by Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc membership, and since, a number of infrastructure improvements and new amenities have taken place. In addition, the 2011 plan does not account for findings of ground penetrating radar (GPR) or memorialization of 215 Le Estcwicwéý.

Splatsin Stsmémelt Coordination Agreement Signing Ceremony

Kúkpi7 Rosanne was proud to join Kúkpi7 Doug Thomas, Federal Indigenous Services Minister Patty Hajdu and Provincial Minister of Children and Families, Mitizi Dean, for the Splatsin Stsmémelt Coordination Agreement Signing Ceremony, March 24, 2023. Kúkpi7 was in attendance to witness this historic signing of a 10 year funding agreement with the Federal Government of Canada. Splatsin is the first indigenous community in BC to take control of its child welfare system. Congratulations to Splatsin!

Independent Special Interlocutor for Missing Children and Unmarked Graves

Kúkpi7 Rosanne, Tk̓wenem7íple7 Dave, and Le Estcwicwéý Manager Jeanette Jules were in Toronto earlier this week attending the National Gathering with Independent Special Interlocutor for Missing Children and Unmarked Graves. While there, they ran into Band members Duanna Johnston-Virgo and Kasey Gottfriedson who were in attendance in their official capacities. We are so proud of all our members who are doing this important work.

Caterers Needed!

Salmon Warriors Gathering is looking for a caterer who can provide full catering services, accommodating food allergy and preference needs, and able to work respectfully with young people and elders. Locally sourced and ethically wild-harvested ingredients are preferred. The caterer must adapt to potential challenges of working in an off-grid camp location with no generators and only solar-powered electricity supplied.
