In the end, we smile because it happened

Friends, the time has come. After six years of working to support Alberta podcasters, partners, and listenership, we've decided to bring down the curtain on APN's operations. Not gonna lie: our feelings are bittersweet.

Since 2017, we've watched the culture of podcasting go from hobbyist passion projects to sizzling media darlings. From handfuls of loyal listeners to international audience bases. From friendly neighbourhood host-read ads to dynamically inserted, geo-targeted prompts.

We've seen many shows come, go, and grow — and our goal was always thus: to give local podcasters clout behind a network banner, and pay them a bit for their work. 

Thanks to every sponsor and partner for helping make our wishes a reality by supporting APN and our podcasters. Thanks to every ear that tuned in. And, especially, a million thanks to the podcasters who wrote, researched, produced, edited, promoted, and propped up their shows and each other's during APN's tenure. 

We hope to remain friends and fans for life with our members, most of whom will go on podcasting long after APN's signal fades — and we hope you'll all keep listening to them, too.

What happens now?

We're going to keep the APN website up as a legacy. Feel free to browse the blog if you want a walk down memory lane. And founder Karen Unland's final message can be found there.

Some of our podcasts have Patreons or will be relying on crowdfunding support in the future. We encourage you to donate if you've enjoyed their work over the years. Others will be selling their own ads or seeking title sponsors. If you're buying, we're happy to make connections. If you happen to run a network, we can make recommendations, too.
