Summer Coastal Safety Report Released

Summer in Australia coincides with the Christmas holiday period, making our coastline a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. However, many do not understand the risks and hazards along the coast, leading to thousands of rescues, first aid treatments and other interventions provided by Surf Life Saving services across the country.

The 2022/23 summer recorded 83 deaths along the coastline, 54 (65%) of which were due to drowning. Read a full statistical analysis of the 2022/23 summer season in the Summer Coastal Drowning Report.

Introducing the Development Advisory Committee

The composition for the Development Advisory Committee has been finalised. These seven members from across the state work together to provide development focussed goals for SLST’s clubs and units. They are hard at work on delivering member opportunities, safety, retention initiatives, junior activities and promoting diversity and inclusion.

Last week the representatives contacts were circulated to clubs and units. Please feel free to reach out to the Development Advisory Committee if you wish to raise any matter pertaining to the development of Surf Life Saving Tasmania.
