Dear friend of SSV,

Join us for the Air Quality & Sustainable Mobility (AQSM23) event on May 23 at Mitchell Park in Palo Alto. At this event, transportation, mobility and air quality leaders, policymakers, electeds, corporations, academia, and innovators will come together to collaboratively advance strategies, policies, and innovations that will once again put California in the metaphorical driver's seat. The registration link is here including the agenda.

AQSM23 will specifically zero in on the intersection of air quality and mobility, where, as Forum for the Future so eloquently puts it: “Transportation is the act of moving goods or people. Mobility is the ability to freely move or be moved.” By focusing on mobility, AQSM23 aims to uplift Californians giving them new options for getting to where they need to go while enjoying a high quality of life in their community. Put another way, instead of focusing on moving cars and trucks, AQSM23 focuses on the goal of moving people, goods, and products.

Recognizing that good air quality is imperative to the California way of life and that the transportation sector is responsible for 40% of California’s greenhouse gas emissions, AQSM23 will integrate these imperatives with California Air Resources Board (CARB)’s ambitious goals of dramatically reducing the demand for petroleum, and thus significantly cutting air pollution and greenhouse emissions.

Although the AQSM23 journey begins in California, its reach extends well beyond the state because, as the popular saying states: "As California goes, so goes the nation." We hope you will join us on this journey.

Sincerely,
