Join us on Monday, May 12, for the Jefferson Lecture, presented by Blake Meyers, principal investigator at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center in St. Louis and professor at the University of Missouri–Columbia.
A former member of the UD faculty, Meyers has pioneered the development and application of high-throughput DNA sequencing technologies to make fundamental discoveries about small RNAs — small molecules that act as “gene silencers” — and their impact on plant biology. His trailblazing research has had wide application to crop improvement, including the development of new technologies for breeding hybrid crops.
Among his many honors, Meyers was elected a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences in 2022.
