A Note from Emma

We did it!

The 2023 DI Maine Tournament was a success! This year, on March 11th at the Hutchinson Center in Belfast, we were excited to welcome back teams from across the state to show off their creativity and problem-solving skills. The excitement and team spirit were infectious throughout the day, whether it was during Team Challenge performances, keeping the secret of the Instant Challenge, or trying out new STEAM activities while waiting for scores. Our Celebration Ceremony ended in big cheers for all of our teams, and a look ahead to Global Finals in May and next year’s challenges.

2023 DI Maine State Tournament

On a Saturday in March, teams of students coming from as far south as Yarmouth and as far north as Machias gathered at the Hutchinson Center in Belfast to showcase the STEAM skills that they had been building for weeks ahead of time. Lines, music, and dance numbers replayed in heads as team members carefully transported sets and costumes inside. Adrenaline pulsed as all eyes fell on them, and the moment of their tournament performance commenced. Congratulations to all of our teams!

2023-2024 Team Challenges

Looking forward to starting a team next year? Previews for seven new Team Challenges have been posted! Will you get creative and tackle the Improv or Fine Arts Challenge, work to solve a problem in your community with the Service Learning Challenge, or get hands-on and building with the Engineering or Technical Challenge? Or, are you just getting started and ready to take on the Early Learning Challenge? Take a look at the Team Challenge Previews for next year, and start imagining your solutions. Team numbers go on sale on July 17th. Plan your team today!
