Apply for the Outstanding UHP Scholarship

Have you had a positive experience in the Honors Program? Each year, the Honors Program Scholarship is awarded to an Honors member who best articulates how the Honors Program has furthered or improved their education academically or through co-curricular engagement: https://www.honors.iastate.edu/scholarships/honors-scholarships

The monetary award for this scholarship is $500 dollars. All current members of the University Honors Program are eligible to apply. Applicant must be enrolled at ISU for at least one more semester as the funds will be applied to next semester’s tuition and/or fees. Special circumstances, such as study-abroad and internships, may allow otherwise.

The completed application must be turned in by Thursday, April 13, 2023. Please fill out the application here. The winner will be selected by the Scholarship Sub-Committee of the University Honors Committee. Decisions will be based on quality and content of two essays, contacts with personal references, and a list of activities and leadership positions. Below are the requirements you will need to upload for the application:
  1. An essay 500 words or less on: “How the Honors Program has furthered or improved my education at Iowa State University, academically or co-curricularly.”
  2. An essay 500 words or less on: “How my leadership has benefited an organization of which I am a member.”
  3. A list of your ISU activities and work experience and leadership positions in those activities (include years/semesters involved and time commitment). You may include a resume in place of a listing.
  4. A list of names, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses of three people whom you have asked to serve as references.  At least one must be an Iowa State University faculty member who can speak to your Honors experience.
If you have any questions, please contact Leisha Estep at lestep@iastate.edu or Laurie Smith Law at lfiegel@iastate.edu.
